Luton set to appoint their new manager

Luton Town are set to appoint Nathan Jones as their new manager  following the departure of Graeme Jones back in April.

A source at the Championship strugglers has told Football Insider that they are in advanced talks with the former Hatters boss less than a year-and-a-half since he left.

He has been out of a job since since November after getting sacked by Stoke City after picking up two wins from their opening 14 matches.

Jones left Luton for the Potters back in January 2019 but was only able to guide them to 16th, winning three of a possible 21 league games.

It was in 2016 when he left Brighton, where he was a first-team coach, and took the reins of the Bedfordshire outfit who at the time were in League Two.

Three years later he led them to promotion from the fourth tier before left them second in League One.

The Hatters parted ways with Graeme Jones “by mutual agreement” in order to reduce the club’s “cost base”.

With the Championship season currently suspended, chief recruitment officer Mick Harford has taken charge in the interim.
