Luton Town are set to appoint Nathan Jones as their new manager following the departure of Graeme Jones back in April.
A source at the Championship strugglers has told Football Insider that they are in advanced talks with the former Hatters boss less than a year-and-a-half since he left.
He has been out of a job since since November after getting sacked by Stoke City after picking up two wins from their opening 14 matches.
Jones left Luton for the Potters back in January 2019 but was only able to guide them to 16th, winning three of a possible 21 league games.
It was in 2016 when he left Brighton, where he was a first-team coach, and took the reins of the Bedfordshire outfit who at the time were in League Two.
Three years later he led them to promotion from the fourth tier before left them second in League One.
The Hatters parted ways with Graeme Jones “by mutual agreement” in order to reduce the club’s “cost base”.
With the Championship season currently suspended, chief recruitment officer Mick Harford has taken charge in the interim.
Fans reacted after finding out that Luton are set to appoint Nathan Jones as their new manager…
In all fairness, if he comes back and keeps us up behind closed doors, I’ll forgive him his sins!

He also has a massive point to prove after the stoke incident so personally I feel it’s a good fit for all involved.

I hope it’s true. A number of players went backwards under GJ. Bradley, shinnie, Lee and his journeymen signings all remind me of the Blackwell era and the team offer rolled over to defeat far too easily. I’d have NJ back in a heartbeat under the right payment terms.

Nathan Jones returning to Luton, he shouldn’t have left in the first place.
