Hugo Lloris slams his own fans for booing teammate Davinson Sanchez while another Tottenham player, Pedro Porro, deletes his social media.
The Spurs captain expressed his sadness over the treatment given to Davinson by the Tottenham fans after the defender’s supporters booed him in Saturday’s Premier League defeat against Bournemouth.
Sanchez was brought off the bench at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the first-half to replace Clement Lenglet, who had been injured. However, he endured a miserable afternoon as Bournemouth won 3-2 with a 95th minute winner.
Sanchez, who had been playing the ball for Pedro Porro before he was dispossessed to set up the first goal, then deflected the ball in Dominic Solanke’s direction to allow him to score the second.
As Cristian Stellini changed the attacking lineup, the Colombian international was taken off with Arnaut Dajuma replacing him, leading to the crowd booing Sanchez as he returned to the bench.
Lloris, however, said it was not an isolated case and called the situation “sad” for the club.
“It started earlier,” Lloris told beIN Sports. “It’s when he came on the pitch. I’ve never seen this in my career.
“I feel really bad for Davinson. He’s a team-mate, he’s a friend and he’s been fighting for the club for many, many years now.
“It’s just sad. The story is sad for the club, for the fans, for the player. It’s something you don’t want to see in football.”

Speaking on Soccer Saturday, ex-Tottenham defender Michael Dawson said: “It wasn’t his fault for the first goal – he played it out to Pedro Porro and Porro loses the ball.
“The second goal, it ricochets and goes into the feet of Solanke.
“What I don’t like is when your own fans boo you. I feel for Sanchez. It’s awful for a player and his confidence looks shot. He’ll be hurting and that’s not nice to see.”
Stellini took responsibility for the decision to take off Sanchez having brought him on as a substitute, adding that Spurs must support him during a “tough moment”.
“I understand it’s a tough moment for everyone and we have to analyse this moment,” said the interim manager. “Everyone needs to analyse how important it is to support a player.
“I take the responsibility for the decisions I make. I thought it was too early in the game to use another striker because we were 1-0 up in the first half.
“When we were 2-1 down I thought it was the moment Davinson has to [come off]. It was only a tactical decision.
“We need to support him because it’s a tough moment for him and also for all the team.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham defender Pedro Porro has deactivated his Instagram and Twitter accounts after losing to Bournemouth.
Porro was involved in the Cherrries’ second goal after a mistake from the Spaniard allowed the opposition to attack.
After the game, it has been noticed that Porro has got rid of his Twitter and Instagram, with fans assuming this was to try and avoid any abuse coming his way.
⚽️ “We played two different games.”
“Davinson needs to understand it was a tactical decision. He needs to be strong.”
“He’s a professional player…”

Subs: Smith (6), Anthony (6), Ouattara (8), Senesi (6).
Player of the match: Dominic Solanke.
Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “It was a big goal at the end but a hell of a performance. We were in complete control first half and went behind to a team chasing Champions League football. Dominated the ball, had some lovely spells and were the better side. Managed to get ourselves in front and deservedly so. Their second goal was offside but the lads were incredible and showed quality. You can’t lose every game in the last minute. We have lost a few this year. For one to go our way was big for us.
“We stay with the same plan. Spurs have nothing to lose, throw more attacking players on and be more aggressive than they were. We could maybe have been better with the ball and felt the pressure a bit. But 2-1 at Spurs you are going to come under some pressure and we did.
“[The second Spurs goal] is clearly offside. Neto has to lean to see around Harry Kane. I am amazed. I was disappointed with the officials today. With six minutes to go you know they will throw everything at you. They miss a header. We had literally just switched the forwards’ sides and the ball falls at Dango’s [Ouattara] feet. He finishes it reallyt well. I am just delighted for the lads. I spoke to them before about taking a huge step towards where we want to get to. To come and win is one thing but to dominate for the opening spell like we did is impressive.
“We try not to get carried away. We will enjoy this and then it will be gone and put into the memory banks for the fans to enjoy. There is a huge week next week and we need to be ready.”
Tottenham interim manager Cristian Stellini, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “It is a really tough day today because we didn’t achieve what we want. We gave everything on the pitch and I think everyone understands this. But we allowed them to score the first two goals too easily. Too easy, too easy. It is difficult then when you are one goal down. You have to be strong in this moment to create a unit and have our fans with us. In the second half we tried to push and we were so close to scoring. After the second goal, Richarlison heads the ball to win the game.
“If Richarlison scores that opportunity we are probably here to enjoy a moment. But now we do not enjoy because we allowed them to score three goals.
“I think we play very good in the first half, the first 20 minutes. We scored but then from scoring to conceding their second goal I am not happy with the performance. When you score one, the mindset has to be to score again. We didn’t do this. It is important for me that they understand why you try to score one more rather than conceded chances.”
This is what social media users said as Lloris slams his club’s own fans for booing teammate while another Tottenham player deletes his social media…
@scottjay01: I just don’t get why Hugo is even starting, we finally have a keeper that is a calming presence in forster yet Hugo has to start because of trophies rhe national team won for him & we should have changed formation & not brought on sanchez. I’m not surprised at the fan response
@GospelFromG1882: Shocking interview from a “captain.” He’s checked out, as simple as that. To imply that today is a one-off is just not the truth! It’s HAS been the story of the season, sit back, and let teams back into the game.
@gazee83:
He as a captain could have took the heat of DS.
Instead I felt like he was coming at us as fans
@stodSpurs: This just demonstrates how bad leadership filters through the club. He’s the captain, he’s supposed to take the bullets here. But that’s how he’s been led too. Toxic from top to bottom.
@riteaye: Such nonsense……..Hugo Lloris thinks you can’t fault the effort…..!!! Sorry Hugo but that performance was toilet from the lot of you, and you should hang your heads in shame for how you are dragging this club down to the doldrums.
@GEORGIE_35: Maybe stop your team from sitting back Hugo. Take some responsibility. Playing stupid passes around at the back week after week.
@Matt280994: He can piss off too in the summer weak mentally and this guy is our captain
@InsideSpurs1882: Love Dawson but it’s on the coaches. Sanchez was at fault for both goals (Porro more so for the first), it’s every time he plays. If the fans don’t voice it it keeps happening. I feel for Sanchez but he is a League One standard defender.
@Nonewzz: Dawsy is right here. Hurts to see Sanchez being booed . But hey, we were fighting for a top 4. Now, at best to not finish 7th
@cammitchelll: He right it was harsh but he’s basically saying going 4 at the back means we will concede? Got to take more responsibility Hugo especially as captain.
@Ashley__Garwood: This guys words mean nothing anymore.
@Modest_M2: Define “fighting”. What I have seen is not fighting. It’s being complacent and just cashing in on a paycheck. That goes for 80% of the club. 80% is on the low estimate.
@JDG027: No one cares what he has to say anymore tbh been a flat and silent captain his whole time here, hang the boots up and just go
@nick_v1992: We are literally a laughing stock 😂
@HazSpur92: He shouldn’t be starting himself
@IanCrocky: Why is lloris still captain and in the team , can’t even criticise the booing which is poor with any passion and conviction , season can’t finish quick enough to get rid of some of this team
@To_Dare_IsToDo: He seems to think we have plenty of games left, we don’t. He said we were very offensive, yes we had to be at 2 1 down. Why don’t we show this desire at 1 nil up, we concede possession and chances all the time, it’s not good enough
@esien4: Hugo is the captain. He needs to ask his team mates why they do not show any urgency in their approach to many matches until it’s too late. Too many players in this Spurs team are just collecting their pay cheques with the minimum effort.
@thfctgc: Who cares if Sanchez is crying on the bench? I should cry every week travelling everywhere to watch this guy play football, fucking clown
@deanjenks86: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The sooner that we get a captain that doesn’t make excuses for mediocrity the better. I don’t agree with the booing but he has cost us so many goals over the years and has had chances to leave but stayed to collect a big wage.
@ItsBennyV: Lloris is right. There is a hell of a lot of frustration at the club right now but booing your own players is pretty disgraceful and absolutely DOES NOT HELP the team
@MaverickSpur: He’s bang on, what are you hoping to achieve by booing him? Do you think his performance is going to improve from there? You’re an embarrassment to the club for booing him. Its totally counter productive.
