The much anticipated line-ups for 2022 Masters Football have been confirmed with big names getting involved in this summer’s competition.
Next month’s tournament is set to take place Glasgow after it’s return was confirmed in February, back on our screens this summer after an 11-year break.
It will be screened by the newly launched sports documentary streaming service 360 Sports TV when it returns in July.
The much loved six-a-side competition, which was originally on Sky Sports between 2000 and 2011, has now been launched on 360 Sports Television, with it staged at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on July 8th.
The teams taking part are Liverpool, Manchester United, Celtic and Rangers, with the hope of more sides entering in upcoming years.
LINEUPS
Liverpool’s eight-man squad: Jamie Carragher, Luis Garcia and Stewart Downing, Jermaine Pennant, David Thompson and Sander Westerveld, Stephen Warnock and Steve McManaman.
Liverpool are to take on Manchester United on July 8th, with the Red Devils side including: Wes Brown, John O’Shea, Darron Gibson, Paul Rachubka, Quinton Fortune, Karel Poborsky and Louis Saha. One more forward is to be included.
Celtic have gone for: Stiliyan Petrov, Kris Commons, Joe Ledley, Carlton Cole, Rab Douglas, Mark Wilson, Kelvin Wilson and Simon Donnelly.
Rangers line up like this: Roy Carroll, Alan Hutton, Carlos Cuellar, Pedro Mendes, Barry Ferguson, Lee McCullock, Kris Boyd and Michael Mols.
The four teams are set to go head to head over two eight minutes halves, with the top two from the group then battling it out in a final.
Sports documentary streaming site 360 Sports TV Masters Cup was re-launched by Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana, former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill and his ex-Nottingham Forest teammate, Tony Woodcock.
Two-time European Cup winner Woodcock, who is a director and co-founder of 360 Sports TV, said: “It just feels fantastic to bring Masters Football back to life. It has real history and there’s been a tremendous buzz over social media recently with petitions to revive the tournament.”
He added: “I played in the first ever series of Masters Football which immediately caught the attention of fans up and down the country who delighted in watching their heroes from the past showing off their skills once again.
“Now I’m so thrilled to be playing a part in bringing this iconic tournament back to the viewing public with live coverage of this brand-new event on www.360sportstelevision.com.”
