Liam Smith plays Sunday League football and misses a penalty kick just hours after his brutal KO victory over Chris Eubank Jr.
Just hours after his win in Manchester, which saw the veteran Liverpudlian knocking Eubank Jr to the ground twice in round 4, Smith took part in a Sunday League match.
Smith was up at 5am to complete his football duties at the Heron Eccles hub in Liverpool. The 34 year old came on as a sub for Custys FC and sent a crucial penalty wide, late in the cup game, and his team were beaten 1-0.

After the whistle, he was delighted to pose with his nephew and brother for photos with a fair few people in attendance watching on.
Liam Smith, quite literally hours after knocking out Chris Eubank Jr, played for his Sunday League footy team today ⚽️
It didn’t go quite as well as last night though…

It was just five days ago that Liam Smith brought his boxing power to the Soccer AM arena as he smashed in a volley during the pro-am game, which can be seen above.
Some may recall a year ago, he scored for his side, hours after he ended up knocking out Anthony Fowler, facing him off at the M&S Arena with the WBA international super-welterweight title on the line.
Liam Smith floored Anthony Fowler on two occasions as he ruthlessly stopped his rival in the eighth round, and this kept alive his world title ambitions.
Smith was the underdog for that fight, despite being a former super-welterweight champion world champ, but it is he who has now moved towards the middleweight elites.
Smith spoke on Sky Sports after his win, insisting that Eubank Jr., despite his reputation for having a great chin was always at risk of being knocked down.
‘I don’t know if it was one shot or an accumulation, but I told you all week,’ Smith said of his stoppage victory.
‘A lot got made of Chris’ great chin. I’ve got a great chin, but there’s many fighters with better chins who have been knocked out in the past.
‘I told you all week, don’t be surprised, nobody can not be hurt.’
‘Big congratulations to him. He caught me with a great shot,’ Eubank Jr said.
‘The build-up was the build-up, it got a bit ugly at the end. I regretted that. I respect you, I respect your family, I always have.
‘If the fans want to see a rematch, we can get it on at Anfield. Big respect, man.’

@PaulFree1980: That’s sport summed up in a nutshell isn’t it. From the high of last night to missing a pen. I know the footy isn’t on the same level but he’ll probably be as gutted about that as he was elated about last night.
