VIDEO: Leyton Orient and Northampton players in 17 man brawl after last minute equaliser

Leyton Orient and Northampton players were involved in a 17 man brawl after a last minute equaliser at Brisbane Road last night.

Footage has emerged showing a penalty scored for the hosts, but in the immediate aftermath a fight broke out between Orient’s James Dayton and Northampton’s Scott Wharton, before members from both sides jumped into the melee.

The brawl started as the Orient player attempted to get the the ball from inside the goal, as they tried to get a quick winner.

Though, Dayton then turned Wharton by grabbing his neck before getting piled onto by his opponent near the advertising hoardings.

Referee Alan Young watched closely the the events playing out, then sent off the instigators as soon as the fight ended up being eventually broken up – the match which finished 1-1.

Northampton took the lead just as the game about about to go to half-time thanks to Ryan Watson, and of course Orient found their leveler in the closing stages of the second half, when the incident took place.

The result means the O’s sit in 19th place in the League Two table, moving six points clear of safety and of bottom-of-the-table Morecambe.

Northampton remain in the play-off places, in 6th place and on 46 points but are just two points off Crewe in the final automatic promotion spot.
