Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha listens to fans’ questions hours after the club’s relegation to League One.
A 2-2 draw with Hull meant back-to-back relegations for the Foxes, in the third tier for the first time since the 2008-09 season, and just the second time in their history.
‘Top’ issued a statement saying he is ‘responsible’, and added that ‘he is trying’, to a group of fans after the game waiting until he emerged out of the ground, demanding answers.
Fan: It’s just a conversation. We just want know what’s going on. We just want to know what’s happened. Like this is a football club that we love and it’s down in League One. Like honestly, we just want to know what’s going on.
Fan: Let’s hear some answers. Let’s hear some answers. We just want to know what’s going on. We’ve been in League One once.
Fan: I’m 72, since 1965…. worst team I have ever seen. I’m heartbroken. You don’t know how much this club means to me. I was born a Leicester fan and I’m gunna die a Leicester fan. I travel all over the country watching them, I’ve been abroad, riding on the motorbike. And you don’t speak to us and you don’t tell us what’s going on.
Fan: Is it the players? Do they not care? They don’t fight for the badge. Let’s hear something then, let’s hear something. Talk to us, talk to us. Tell us what is going wrong.
Fan: Have you put your faith in the wrong people?
Top: It’s a bad day. I cannot blame anyone. I can blame myself. It’s not right. I tried everything. We all tried. The players tried. I know that it’s not enough.

Fan: Where do you stand in the future?
Fan: Are you still going to money into the club to keep us going? Are we going to have a club in 10 years time?
Top: I did stay here 15 years. I put a lot of money in.
Fan: So is that going to continue?
Top: I will try.
Fan: Okay. Look, we’re not going to hurt anyone. We just want a conversation. You know, we love the club more than anything in the world. It’s my lifeblood, you know? And to see you down in League One the second time in our history, it’s a disgrace. It really is.
Fan: “I’ve been to Middlesbrough, Southampton. I’ve seen this be 3-0 down at half time in like four or five games this season. These players don’t care and they’re taking the piss. No, sorry, but they are. They really are. And you’re paying their wages. You must be really disappointed in them. Because I am, you know, exactly.
“And like, the thing is, we’re angry, but we get that you’ve got other responsibilities, we get it. But there’s other people at the club that aren’t doing their jobs and we just want to know what’s going on. The accountability is the key.
“You know, and these players, they’re not going to be here next year. They’re not going to care. They’re going to go and have careers somewhere else. And we’re the ones that are going to be picking up the pieces. You’re going to be picking up the pieces.
“I just, it hurts. It really hurts. And I get you’re hurting as well. do. you know, like it’s, we’ve been down today. We had 200 people here earlier. They’ve all gone, you know, we just want to chat. You know, we’re not, going to hurt anybody. We’re not stupid.
Top: I know. I’m not afraid of this.
Fan: I know, to make sure, because there’s a lot of security and everyone’s worried that we’re gonna kill everybody. We’re not, you know, we’re… But it’s just really depressing, it’s really sad and…
Fan: We need answers.
Top: First of all, I love to be here. But we have to have understand each other, because we are trying. Myself, the players, protect the club. It’s not about who is wrong now. It’s about how, what’s next.
Fan: Yeah, no, we understand. Something has to change though. We need answers.
Top: I will try.
Fan: Please. And then please tell us.
Fan: Yeah, speak to us. We’re here to help, you know? Something must change. I just, in the future, you know, wait. I know there’s a lot of anger in the fan base and we just…
Fan: “From the Foxes Trust… I’m Steve, I’ve got elected in January, I’m trying my hardest here for the future of the football club. I’m quite passionate, I go on lot of fan channels, I’m happy to talk to people. We’re meeting the club on Monday with Anthony and Imi and these sort of people, so just talk to us, that’s all we’re there for.
“I mean, I can’t speak too much on it because, you know, I’ve only just been appointed myself, but there has been some friction in the past with certain fan groups and Anthony, but that’s fine. As long as we can move forward and we can have proper conversations, that’s all we want.
“You know, because the Foxes Trust is just there to help. We’re the link between the fans and the club, you know, so please listen to us, just talk to us, you know? That’s all, because we care. That’s it.
Leicester relegated to League One, Rowett and chairman speak out, fans vent fury at players
Those that say I should have been harsher, you’re probably right. BUT in this situation he’s likely to want to talk if you’re calm.
I just wanted answers. Did I get them? Not really.

After Leicester City’s relegation to League One, Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha issued the following statement:
“To our fans, relegation to League One is now confirmed. As Chairman, that responsibility sits with me. There are no excuses.
“We have experienced the highest highs and now the lowest lows, and the pain is shared by all of us. I am truly sorry for the disappointment we have caused. I understand the strength of feeling among our supporters, and we do not take your support for granted, especially at moments like this.
“Our focus now is on what comes next. We will take the necessary decisions to move the Club forward, working together to rebuild, improve, and restore the standards expected of Leicester City. Our objective is clear – to respond strongly and compete to move this Club forward again.
“We will face this head-on. We will keep going.
“Together. Top.”
Here’s the social media reaction on a video of the Leicester chairman who listens to fans’ questions hours after the club’s relegation to League One…
@JBStack91: Who ever was the guy speaking in the video handled that really well and in the right manner which is more than what some fans would have done just hours after relegation was confirmed so really well done 👏 from a Millwall fan
@KatieTKSFTBL: You know at least he’s actually spoken to you. You won’t get all the answers you need, and it’s good that he is saying we can speak
@WTFox1884: 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 really well handled mate.
@Jackjharcourt: I thought you did very well mate considering the situation! The best thing was to stay calm and just talk nicely otherwise he would have just turned round and gone without even hearing you out! Get it English isn’t his best but he listened and the main thing I took away…
@countyfox: Fair play for waiting to talk to him and for all doing it in a calm and grown up manner, given the circumstances. Hopefully Top will see that not all Leicester fans want to shout abuse at him and just want the best for their club. I give Top credit for that talk
@tomatosauce8888: Rudkin situation should be asked
@ThomasSimons12: Say what you want but no other owner would have done that. He’s hurting, we all are. He’s shown integrity there. Thank you Top
@syncronicity100: Well done for this. Look, he’s a nice guy for sure but nice guys don’t necessarily make good owners. He never says anything of substance, it’s always word salad. He looks like a little boy lost.
@PaulRepettoLee: Great work and you can see he is hurting too but can he turn it around ? Thanks for talking to him
@itsgriffo97: Fair fucks for having the balls to face fans
@mikeb9909: It changes nothing in my view on King Power or what needs to happen. But, I appreciate Top coming out and facing this personally. It’d have been easy to get into his car and go. Fair play @Elm_665 I think you & others took the right approach when aiming for dialogue 👍
