Leeds rattle Millwall and their fans by making a mockery of them with chants and tweets

Leeds United rattle Millwall and their fans by making a mockery of them with chants and full time tweets on Wednesday night.

A Jake Cooper own goal and Ao Tanaka send Daniel Farke’s side back to the top of the Championship while it’s a dent to Millwall’s playoff hopes.

Leading up to the game, Leeds tweeted: “With Millwall selling just 391 tickets for tomorrow night’s clash, an extra allocation has now been made available to #LUFC members.”

During the game, Leeds fans could be heard singing “your support is f*cking sh*t”, then Leeds tweeted at full time “๐Ÿ™Œ #LUFC defeat FA Cup Fifth Round finalists Millwall” and “DJ, pLaY JoY dIViSioN! ๐ŸŽถ”.

Millwall tweeted “DJ Femi, play Joy Division! ๐ŸŽถ” after knocking Leeds out of the FA Cup back in February.

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke told BBC Radio Leeds:

“It was an excellent win for us tonight in a pretty busy period. Also, it was an excellent performance.

“We were quite respectful today because we haven’t lost many games, but it is so important for us that when there is a little set-back that we answer straight away.

“That is what we have always done during the season so far. I love it.

“But also the game after a loss can also be difficult because you can have a great run of form, with many wins or 17 games unbeaten, but then you lose one game and that does something with the confidence and the rhythm, and you have to fight your way back to get momentum back on your side.

“That is what we did today against an excellent Millwall side that always shows resilience, that is competitive, and tries to press and go for it.”

Farke by Sky Sports:

“It was an excellent win for us in a pretty busy period. It was an excellent performance.

“It was so important after a setback to answer straight away with a win, which we’ve always done this season so far. I love it.

“When you lose one game it does something to the confidence and the rhythm. You have to fight to get the momentum back and this is what we did against an excellent Millwall side, who are always resilient and competitive.

“[The decision to rule out Piroe’s goal] annoys me a lot, I have to say. Back-to-back games for us with the same assistant, again an offside decision against us. It was never offside. To be fair to him it was tight.

“But why do we have the rule – if in doubt give it to the offensive side. It was such a great goal. I have to calm myself down. This is difficult to accept, especially from the same assistant.”

Millwall boss Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:

“The nature of the first goal for us is really frustrating because it is unfortunate. From there, to be fair to the lads, I thought they brushed it off.

“First half, I thought we were pretty good, we moved the ball well and got into good areas, but didn’t create as many opportunities as I would have hoped.

“Second half, they started bright and, at that stage, they had a dominant spell and we tried to stay in the game. We had a couple of little moments without really getting anywhere and obviously the second goal takes it away from us.

“We didn’t deserve to take anything away from the game. Leeds were the better side. But I know a lot of teams have come here and conceded early and roll over, and it becomes a real tough evening, but our lads made it difficult with how hard they worked.”

Neil per Sky Sports:

“Them scoring early changes the dynamic. It was unfortunate from our perspective.

“I think you’ve got to give Leeds credit. They were very good tonight. They’re a good side.

“To be fair to our lads, until the second goal went in we were resilient, we worked hard and showed little moments of quality keeping the ball.

“I said to the lads afterwards, Leeds have been excellent at home. They’ve been the best team I’ve seen across the league so far.”
