Leeds’ Pontus Jansson jokingly warns QPR’s Toni Leistner over referee tweet

Leeds United’s Pontus Jansson has jokingly warned QPR’s Tony Leistner after he criticised the referee in a tweet on Sunday night.

Leistner tweeted his annoyance after Leeds were awarded their first penalty in 59 games on Saturday when the defender was accused of handball.

Kemar Roofe buried it home to give the hosts a 2-1 win to keep them second in the Championship table, they were on their way to the top but a late goal from Norwich stopped that from happening.

Over 24 hours after the game, Leistner complemented Leeds, but had some choice words for the referee…

Jansson, who received a one-game suspension for accusing a referee of robbery, joked “You might be in prison if you use those words as a Leeds player… All the best big man, stay strong.”

It was two months ago when Jansson swore during a live interview with Sky Sports after feeling frustrated at the referee’s decision to award Brentford a controversial second half penalty.

An FA statement said: “Leeds United’s Pontus Jansson has been charged following the game against Brentford on 06/10/18.”

“It is alleged his comments in a post-match interview were abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or brought the game into disrepute. He has until 6pm on 17/10/18 to respond.”

Expressen reported what Jansson made of the FA charge in his press conference: “I was forced to apologise. It’s clear you must lead by example. But I didn’t think what I said was a big thing, if I’m honest. There are many emotions and I am a player who plays with a lot of emotion. Then things can happen sometimes.”

Following Leistner’s tweet complaining about the referee after he was accused of handling the ball, which led to Roofe scoring and securing a win, Leeds fans took mock the QPR player for his ‘salty’ comments, then Whites fans joked that Jansson would get another fine simply for replying to Leistner’s tweet – take a look at what they are saying in the next page.
