Leeds have fans in stitches with TikTok video taunting Liverpool after beating them

Leeds have their fans in stitches with a new TikTok video seemingly taunting Liverpool after beating them at the weekend.

Liverpool’s dismal start to the Premier League season goes on with Crysencio Summerville’s 89th-minute strike clinching a 2-1 win for Leeds at Anfield.

It means Jurgen Klopp’s beleaguered side have lost more ground on the top four, falling to 13 points behind Manchester City and eight behind fourth-placed Newcastle.

Summerville was quickest, scoring from Wilfried Gnonto’s left-wing cross low and beyond Alisson Becker and to hand Liverpool to a second consecutive Premier League defeat and their fourth in 12 games this season.

The hosts had been pushing for a winner after Mohamed Salah cancelled out Rodrigo’s fourth-minute opener following a mix-up between Alisson and Joe Gomez.

They also couldn’t get past the Illan Meslier, who put in a great shift making nine saves, the joint-most by any goalkeeper in a Premier League game this season.

Leeds defended well and kept on the threat on the counter-attack throughout, becoming just the latest side to find gaps in Liverpool’s defence, with Brenden Aaronson also hitting his effort against the bar in the first half before Summerville’s dramatic winner.

Leeds have since uploaded a TikTok video, including that late winner, and it seems WWE approves of itwith an eyes emoji in the comment section.

Leeds United are still entirely behind manager Jesse Marsch to guide them away from their precarious Premier League position, according to club journalist Phil Hay.

The Elland Road club ended a woeful run of results with the 2-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, easing pressure on Jesse Marsch.

An eight-match winless streak, which includes six defeats, before that memorable night on Merseyside condemned Marsch to severe pressure as relegation fears heightened.

But while pressure on the American coach was apparently at an all-time high from the outside, internally, Leeds were far more relaxed.

Hay says the club fully intend to keep faith in Marsch to turn around their fortunes but claimed there was a sense that something had to give over the next few weeks before questions had been raised.

On The Phil Hay Show, he said: “The club have said, ‘he is our man, we are sticking with him, we are standing by him’. [But] it still felt as if there was going to have to be something in this two-to-three-week period. Particularly in the league games between Liverpool, Bournemouth and Tottenham, it felt as if something had to materialise.”

Hay adds that among everyone covering Leeds, all focus was on the six-pointer against AFC Bournemouth at Elland Road next Saturday, almost conceding defeat to Liverpool and Tottenham.

He admits the Premier League table would have looked ‘desperate’ for the club had they failed to deliver in all three, but felt everything ‘fell into place’ at Anfield.

“Something had to come back in terms of points. Otherwise, the league table was going to look pretty desperate,” Hay continued. “All of us [covering Leeds] had eyes on Bournemouth at Elland Road as opposed to Liverpool at Anfield, but everything fell into place on the night.”

Meanwhile, Ralph Hasenhuttl has replaced Jesse Marsch as the bookmakers’ favourite to become the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

Marsch’s odds drifted to 5/2 from 4/7 last week, after an impressive win over Liverpool, who hadn’t lost at Anfield since March 2021.

He had previously been odds-on favourite after Leeds dropped into the relegation zone following an eight-match winless streak and a run of four straight defeats.

Southampton boss Hasenhuttl, who is the fourth longest serving manager in the Prem, currently sit at 2/1 on BetVictor to be relieved of his duties, after a run of just three wins from their first 13 games has left them one-point clear of the bottom three.
