Leeds fans praised for ‘open letter to FA’ flag at Elland Road before Man Utd clash

Leeds United fans have been praised on Sunday for pinning an ‘open letter to The FA’ flag at Elland Road before the Man Utd clash.

The rivalry between the two clubs is known to always be intense despite the cities being over 40 miles (64 km) apart.

The tradition is upheld and this strong feeling can still be seen between the two clubs with independent research by the Football Fans Census showing that, within English football, both Leeds and Manchester United are ranked within the top three clubs based on the number of clubs that consider them to be their rivals.

Every time that these two sides meet, you know you’re in for a thriller, a hostile encounter on and off the field.

Both sets of fans were excited to know their clubs would meet once again in the league following Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League last season.

The saddening thing about the last time they met was that supporters weren’t able to attend the fixture, which played out to a 6-2 win for the Red Devils.

The same will happen once again for the reverse fixture, however, in light of the mass backlash that was caused from the Big six joining the European Super league, before withdrawing a few days later, Leeds fans have turned up in protest against their rivals.

The Whites fanbase have stuck a details open letter to the FA regarding the ‘GREEDY SIX’ which is pinned to the fence by the club shop.

It reads: “Open letter to The FA – YOU MUST BE STRONG FOR THE SAKE OF THE FUTURE OF FOOTBALL IN ENGLAND! STOP BEING SCARED OF MUFC! Don’t let them threaten and bully you anymore.

“LUFC had 10 and 15 puts deducted and 16 years out of the PL because of the behaviour our clubs’ owners, and so don’t tell us “it’s not the fans or players fault, and that the FA cannot and should not punish the GREEDY SIX with points deductions and relegation.” FA – bottling it would clearly be pandering, weakness and preferential treatment for the Greedy Six, and a betrayal of everyone in the game and of the very history of our game. The Greddy Six believe that the FA are oo scared of them to punish them properly.

“CONSISTENCY AND PROPORTIONALITY IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE!

“Leeds City are the only team ever to have been kicked out of the League by you, The FA, and that was because of the behaviour of our owners, and when that happened the people of Leeds gathered together as one and United to form Leeds UNITED!

“Fail to punish the Greedy Six properly, and proportionately, and then The FA simply look at though they are in existence mainly for the benefit of the Greedy Six and not equally for all in the game. You have to be fair and be seen to be fair, without favouritism, otherwise your role is defunct.

“16 years out of the PL has given Leeds United fans an amazing perspective and appreciation for the PL, and we are delighted to be back! MUFC have no appreciation or perspective. THE GREEDY SI ARE GUILTY OF THE BIGGEST BETRAYAL OF THE FA AND ALL IT’S CLUBS AND FANS, IN THE HISTORY OF THE FA AND WITHOUT QUESTIONS THE WORST EVER EXAMPLE OF NOT ACTING IN THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME AND BRINGING THE GAME INTO DISREPUTE, even with their own fans! Unprecedented behaviour requires unprecedented punishment and deterrent!

“WITHOUT PROPER PUNISHMENT THEY WILL JUST REGROUP AND DO IT AGAIN, WITH A PROPERLY MOBILISED PR TEAM GATHERED FAN AND MEDIA SUPPORT NEXT TIME!

“Why should any of the GREEDY SIX win the League, the Cup or the Champions League and enjoy their big nights in Final’s or winning the League this season when they do not even value any of that!!!!

“How insincere and worthless would all that music, partying and fireworks celebrations look to everyone in football! They have undermined the meaning and value of the CL and PL, even for themselves.

“FA – YOU MUST BE STRONG! FOR THE SAKE OF THE CONTINUING SUSTAINABLE, LONG TERM, STABILITY OF THE GAME, AND FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE GAME! LUFC MOT ALAW”

Leeds United CE Angus Kinnear before the game on Sunday: The audacity of a resurgent Leeds United, an ambitious Aston Villa, a brilliantly managed Leicester City, a Champions League-bound West Ham United and an Everton with bold stadium plans have clearly overwhelmed the self-proclaimed “big six”.

Kinnear adds in his programme notes: “The timing of their plan combined with the turmoil of a global pandemic was not coincidental it was deeply cynical, and the clandestine plotting of fellow Premier League shareholders made it all the more seditious.”

Leeds fans were praised for the ‘open letter to The FA’ flag at Elland Road before the Man Utd clash…

@pjhmfc: Spot on get them all bammed out off Europe for years along with massive fines get them to hit they owners where it hurts

@H4rryLUFC: Let’s be honest no cunts reading this when they walk past it’s like a bastard English exam

@WeAllTalkLeeds: If a man robbed a bank, he wouldn’t avoid sentence because it would ‘harm his family’. This lot tried to rob football, and reshape it in their favour. They’ve lost their main threat tactic. Punish them. Restructure football to the benefit of the many and not the few. #LUFC

@AndyDoree: @GaryLineker @GNev2 @Carra23 @MicahRichards Please make sure this message is heard far and wide (only, add the names of the other teams not just #MUFC )

@tommy_lufc: Find myself agreeing with much of it but also thinking that the actual wording could have done with another pass or three. #lufc

@snbutler: Indeed. Although, assuming both banners are from the same source, “we know who you are: we know you from old” is nicely done.

@JamieR_LUFC: To whoever has done this 👏👏👏👏

@robw123q: Making this MUFC specific is incredibly cringeworthy, as much as the grammar. Somebody please take it down.

@adz59shadow: The FA are ”oo’ scared of them

@kennybrown1964: Agree they’ll think they are like a Columbia Cartel untouchable and hiding behind you can’t punish the fans crap no one thought about us when we got docked 25 points they were queuing up to kick us in the lower regions 😬😬😬😬

@RetroGameLord1: the greedy six should be punished! As Leeds fans, we have been punished due to owners with points deductions! The fans didn’t cause our dramas. Poor owners did!! You must punish the big six!! #PremierLeague #FA #ESL
