Leeds United fans have decided to mock BT Sport after an ‘outrageous’ club tweet about 27 year old footballer Stuart Dallas.
The Whites fanbase have taken to Twitter with glee after the Premier League club tweeted about Stuart Dallas being called up to the Northern Ireland squad.
To some people, they would have been baffled to see a number of supporters fume at the 29-year-old’s exclusion from the England squad.
Some may also have been confused to see fans describe Dallas as Leeds born, yet he was actually born in Cookstown, Northern Ireland.
The Elland Road faithful were actually mocking BT Sport for a repeated error of theirs, which they made during the 2-1 win over Newcastle back in January.
BT Sport described Dallas as Leeds born during their commentary of the match, as covered at the time by MOT Leeds News.
Clearly, the commentators that night hadn’t done their homework and yet after being told plenty of times about their error, they still continue to say Dallas is a English player.
You could say they actually really don’t need to do their homework at all because if they’d heard Dallas talk, he has an incredibly strong Irish accent.
Months on from their mistake, the Leeds fans still haven’t forgotten what BT Sport did as they came out in droves to respond to the club’s tweet about the player.
He’s having a superb season under Marcelo Bielsa, scoring five times in the Premier League in 28 starts, while also assisting two goals.
Speaking to LUTV ahead of the clash with Leicester a while back, Dallas claimed that commentators could be trying to wind up Whites fans for trying to repeatedly say he is Leeds born.
“I think the commentators are doing it just to wind Leeds fans up and I think it’s working,” he said.
“There seems to be a lot of uproar. I’m proud to live in Leeds, I’m proud to represent Leeds, but I’m also a proud Northern Irish Ulsterman as well.”
