Leeds fan names who he wants to replace Marcelo Bielsa amid ‘relegation fears’

A miffed off Leeds United fan names who he wants to replace Marcelo Bielsa live on talkSPORT at the weekend amid relegation fears.

The Yorkshire giants currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, seven points clear of the relegation zone after 14 games.

Bielsa’s side often receive praise from pundits, managers and presenters with their style of play, even Gary Neville liked how they always have a desire to attack even when they come up against stronger opponents – such as Manchester United, who beat Leeds 6-2 on Sunday.

Leeds had a total of 17 attempts on David de Gea at the weekend, but missed a host of chances and it was too easy for the Red Devils with their quality really showing.

Bielsa is described as a hero by most Leeds fans after ending their 16-year Premier League exile last season, but Whites supporter Danny insists his time should be up.

He told Darren Bent’s Boot Room on talkSPORT: “We’ve got a lot of issues. There are teams worse off than us. The sad thing with us is there is just so much potential, but there is plan A, plan A or plan A.

“We can’t defend set-pieces, we can’t finish; [Patrick] Bamford has scored the goals, but how many chances does this man need to have in front of him before he can actually finish?

“People will say, ‘Bamford, he’s scored so many goals this season’, but he misses about five chances before he scores the first one! We don’t have enough quality in depth.

“I feel if we leave Bielsa in charge we’re going to go down playing this style of football. We can’t go down. It took us 16 years to get back into the Premier League.

“We cannot afford to go down. I’ve seen managers sacked for less. I called for this after we got hammered the other week.

“Don’t get me wrong, we had a good win last week, but Newcastle are not exactly a world-beating team, are they? I think it’s time for him to go.”

Sam Allardyce return to management last week, replacing Slaven Bilic at West Brom last week, Danny however feels he would like to see Rafa Benitez replace Bielsa at Elland Road.

He added: “There are other managers out there who could stabilise the team, sort the defence out.

“This wasn’t even a good United team, it’s one of the worst United teams we’ve seen since the [Sir Alex] Ferguson days.

“There have been some bad teams but this is by no means a good team. Arsenal, one of the worst teams at the moment, came to Old Trafford and managed to scrape a 1-0 [win]… we were six down!

“It’s just a joke. Thanks for the memories, Marcelo, but I think it’s time for a change. I’d try to get Rafa in or someone like that. We’ve missed out on Big Sam.”

It caught the attention of ex-Tottenham striker Freddie Kanoute, who is adamant any fan can’t love football if they want Bielsa sacked.

He tweeted: “Can’t believe you really love football if you wish to replace Bielsa by (with all due respect) one of those old-school-cagey-boring coaches.”

Man of the match: Scott McTominay

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: “That was fantastic. From the first minute we had a plan to get after them, go forward when we got the ball and of course Scott gets two goals in the first three minutes which is a great start to the game.

“We found a way of getting them going. Just imagine if that had 75,000 people here. It would have gone down in history as one of the better Man Utd performances against Leeds here at home.

“We’re one third into the season, not even at the halfway point. So league position is not something we’re going to look at. We look at improvement in the team, look at improvement in fitness – because we knew we were going to be lagging behind in fitness and I think it showed in the first few games.

“But now we showed we’re getting a fitter and stronger team.”

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa: “In the first half we had similar opportunities to the ones that they had, and we weren’t able to score them. Our attacks came from combination play and their attacks came from the fact we were losing the ball in attacking positions and they would transition from defence to attack.

“Our return was slower than their transition and this was linked to the fact we couldn’t finish our attacks, and our return was not at the speed needed.

“We will correct what was bad and try to keep the good things. But we will not abandon the way we play.”

Twitter users reacted after hearing a miffed off Leeds United fan names who he wants to replace Marcelo Bielsa live on talkSPORT, some however were sceptical he even supported Leeds…

@gullychef: Bielsa tactically inept, Leeds will be humbled many times this season playing 1 dimensional football. In the latter half when they pick up the inevitable injuries they will be in the relegation battle

@vivanagsvegas: What a cabbage , we will stay up and that will be a good season, then we push on with more quality signings ! MOT !

Paul Becks: Nah this guy aint a true Leeds fan

@AFCpens: We will stay up with bielsa, where do they expect us to finish? Just enjoy the fucking journey!

@mustard_mash: Pull the plug on this lad…he knows F all amd isn’t Leeds!!

Harry Douglas: I agree, time for him to go, we can do better

@steven_metcalfe: He’s very naive if he thinks he can go ‘toe to toe’ with the prem big boys. He says he won’t change (that or no plan B). I’d be worried if he can’t coach his defenders to ‘defend’.

@Tonylufc28: Agbonlohar up to his old tricks I see. He needs to stop this now, its getting boring.

@InsomniacAli: Can’t get more plastic than this. Big Sam over Marcelo Bielsa. Obviously this guy knows shit about football. I can understand that worry of going down but what you expect him to do with limited or no spending budget and still sitting pretty in mid table.

@Jj786bwfc: You get some right melts calling in…like they’ve never watched football in their life. I feel like something it’s the presenters mates just making controversial comments for the piss boil

Jason: Can’t stop laughing at this Leeds fan as he names who he wants to replace Marcelo Bielsa, the club would be stupid to get rid

@LTSManners: Bet he wasn’t saying that after the 5-2 Newcastle win.

@SohailRashid00: What a clown. Big Sam? It’s our first season. If we survive by 1 point than it’s a fab season. We are going to thrash teams and will also get thrashed simple. Do need some defenders for Jan. but everyone chill your beans

@StocksColin: Can’t stand Leeds, but this fella needs to get real, his team have just been promoted many fan of a newly promoted side has to know they’re gonna lose games and get the odd pasting. The clubs aim is 4th from bottom that’s it

Rory: Got to laugh, but then again, who are we to say Leeds haven’t already got a back up should they get worried?
