Talking of goal celebrations, Luke Ayling spoke about his, claiming it was a failed attempt at what Robbie Keane did all them years ago.
Ayling admitted said on his winner that sparked pandemonium in the away end: “It’s some buzz you know! We come in 2-0 down with a sloppy goal at the end of the half, but we come out second half and showed a bit of character. The man getting sent off is a massive game changer and it’s a massive three points.
“We got in some great positions in the first half and maybe taken a goal before they got their first, but that sums up our season. We created a few chances then they counter and score. I don’t know I was on the other side. It seemed like our goalie got there first but they’re both running at pace. If it goes against us it’s probably harsh, but we’ll take it.”
On the Raul Jimenez red card giving Leeds a new found impetus and his injury time goal: “As soon as the red card happened it gave us a boost, we got the first and then the second. After the second we went a bit flat and went long too quickly, but then obviously got the third in the end.
“I just got my head over it and smashed it as hard as I could! I tried to do the Robbie Keane celebration but didn’t land the cartwheel so I’ll have to work on that!”
Leeds were forced into four substitutions with Patrick Bamford, Mateusz Klich, Illan Meslier and Diego Llorente all forced off the field of play. Speaking on Bamford in particular, Ayling said: “He’s worked so hard to get back and it’s been such a frustrating season for him.
“Coming off the back of last season, scoring all those goals then coming into this season and getting injured early on. The boys are gutted for him, but he’ll be working hard to get back. I spoke to him briefly at half-time and he seemed not too down. He’s had a problem with his foot over the last few weeks, but I think it’s just a bit sore.”
He said on their survival chances: “It’s huge for us to put a bit of daylight between us and relegation but teams have games in hand so we need to see what happens with them games and try to keep building on these set of results. We’ve been playing well since the new gaffer came in, so we’ve got to keep building and picking up points.”
