League One chairman threatens a ‘serious lawsuit’ if the 2019/20 season is declared null and void due to the coronavirus.
The EFL are set to meet later this week to announce what their plans are, however, there are no indications that the season will be prematurely ended.
Both the league organisation and clubs are reported to be committed to completing the postponed fixtures, even if that means having to extend the season end into June or July.
Several pundits are suggesting that the 2019/20 season could be declared void, however, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony believes that won’t be an option.
His side are in a firm battle for promotion, and as mentioned, he insists he would not hesitate in taking legal action if their remaining fixtures were cancelled.
He said in a tweet: “A serious lawsuit would be my next step if voided happened but way too early for all that.
“Let’s focus on coming days/weeks ensuring we all responsibly look after our elders/those seriously affected & stay away from crowd environments etc & follow guidelines laid out.”

When asked if a lawsuit would be a success, MacAnthony replied: “Considering there would be a **** load of clubs joining me in it, I’d fancy our chances to reverse any such decision.”

Another user said: “Just had my upcoming theatre show cancelled….perhaps I should start a class action and sue them too? Maybe sue Sainsbury’s because they had no soap, eggs or chicken earlier??”
Again Darragh wrote back: “Keep the dumb tweets coming pal. Absolute nonsense.”
Fans gave their reaction as the League One chairman threatens a ‘serious lawsuit’ if season is declared null and void…
What would be your suggested solution to players and managers contracts being up at the end of June? This seems to be a question a lot are asking.

So a law suit is more important than people's life's. Unfortunatly there is nothing in the rules for circumstances like this, just like when the second world war broke out. The league was voided then.

For once I found myself agreeing with Wayne Rooney in what he said! If the season gets Null & Void it just shows that these organisations don’t care about the fans and only care about the money! This is more than just about Liverpool, Leeds etc, so much more to this

It’s about priorities and is football really the top one at the moment ?

Null and void is the last thing most fans want. I'd rather finish it at Christmas than cancel it. The legal ramifications of anything else would drag on for a long old time.

Why are we so set in stone with dates ? Is it compulsory to start a football season in August? Just play this seasons games when safe to do do then move the start of next season to suit. Scrap the stupid international breaks for a year then happy days

Finish this season AT ALL COSTS, if we get to a point we have to over run into late summer, short contract extensions if req. if next season looks it wont fit maybe play half the games, fixture draws for home/away @PFA @EFL @premierleague @talkSPORT @SkySports @btsportfootball

It depends how long this crap goes on for.
As for lawsuits, I think clubs would have more cause for complaint if current positions were allowed to stand, which has been suggested in some quarters (mainly by thicko ex-footballers to be fair)

I’m sure you could count on SISU to join you, they love their lawsuits

There is simply no way that the leagues can just stop now and be null & void, way to much to play for and way to costly for them idiots in charge, pains me to say it as i’m an NUFC fan but scrap all cups and finish the leagues

Me and a lot of other football fans would be right behind you as well @DMAC102
