We take a look at the latest newly unveiled kits from English clubs for the 2021/22 season, and the majority of them have gone down well.
The current campaign is over and done with, so now their attention can only turn to the next one, and with clubs desperately needing the cash to boost their finances, now is the perfect time to release them to supporters.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve come across a variety of kits, some looking rather nice, though others have looked a lot worse, and then you have you just plain average bunch. Take a look at the latest collection to be launched below…
CRYSTAL PALACE AWAY KIT
Crystal Palace have unveiled their brand new away kit, the first of Palace’s new Puma range to be released for the 2021/22 season.
Yellow away kits have often made an appearance at the club for many years, firstly in the 1960s and playing a part in some of the most memorable occasions in the club’s history on the road. This year’s new look also features blue on the hems, collar and shoulders.
The club’s sponsorship deal with leading global online gaming brand W88 has been extended for the 2021/22 season. The away kit will be worn by the first-team and throughout the Academy, whose shirts will be sponsored by Utilita. The Women’s team will also wear the kit, with their front of shirt sponsor to be confirmed soon.
ROTHERHAM AWAY KIT
Rotherham United have revealed their new ‘change’ kit for the 2021/22 campaign, manufactured by Puma Teamwear.
The club’s second strip design for the season ahead once again has been tailored to include design elements bespoke to the Millers.
The ‘change’ shirt is another inspired by kits of the past, meaning that some of the fanbase may recall their minds back to the late 80’s and draw comparisons between this modern day design and kits that have preceded it.
As was stated in the press release for the newly-signed marquee commercial deal with IPM Group, they are proud to be promoting the ‘intelipod’ branding – a company from the IPM Group family – across the front of the 2021/22 change strip shirt.
The shirt technology is once more made from lightweight polyester with moisture wicking technology, designed to quickly draw sweat away from the body, keeping you drier, cooler and more comfortable for longer.
NEWPORT HOME KIT
The new home shirt incorporates the Exiles’ traditional black and amber colours, including a subtle texture that features tone-on-tone triangles, slightly less bold compared to recent seasons.
Hummel’s iconic chevrons also go down both shoulders, while the design is completed with black trims on the sleeves and crew neck collar.
The shirt is complemented with black shorts and amber socks, with chevrons also featuring in white and black respectively.
The Pure Vans sponsor is placed centrally on the front of the home shirt after being confirmed as the club’s principal partner for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
Plumbstop, another company based in Newport, will also continue as the back of home shirt sponsor for the next two campaigns.
The club’s slogan ‘One Club One County’ also features on the bottom in black.
The shirt uses Hummel’s ECO8 technology, and this ensures that each shirt is manufactured from high-performing polyester produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles.
WEST BROM HOME KIT
West Bromwich Albion revealed a new Puma Home kit for the 21/22 season. The club will have inspiration from ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd’ each time they wear the home kit next term – with lyrics from the Baggies anthem emblazoned on the club’s famous blue-and-white stripes.
The central blue stripe carries the first verse of Psalm 23 which the club’s fans have sung from the stands for decades.
The words are written into the fabric of the football club and now, for the first time, they are woven into the fabric of the club’s home shirt.
STOCKPORT HOME, AWAY AND THIRD
Stockport County revealed their three new Puma kits ahead of the 2021/22 National League season.
The new blue home shirt is a bespoke Puma design and this season, Pioneer Group will be replaced by VITA as the shirt sponsor, to bring sponsor consistency across all three stripes.
The new away shirt is based on the Puma Final range. The shirt pays homage to the period from the 1930s to mid 1960s, when County played in white and were referred to as ‘the Lilywhites’.
The new third kit is another bespoke Puma design. It’s described as striking and different and reflects the club’s bold ambitions as a Club on and off the pitch.
CAMBRIDGE THIRD KIT
Cambridge United revealed their new 2021/22 Third Shirt which is made by Hummel.
An all-white kit has been chosen to go with the amber home and classic black away, with the Third Shirt featuring a colour block pattern on the chest, displaying shades of amber and black.
With a striped collar design and amber cuff trims, the shirt is then finished off nicely with Hummel’s chevrons on the sleeves. The kit is then completed with white shorts and socks.
As with all of their shirts, they are environmentally friendly, using Hummel’s ECO8 technology, meaning each shirt is manufactured from high-performing polyester produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles.
Club partners Mick George are once again placed on the chest, with Hill Group on the upper back and SOS Leak Detection on the shorts.
DONCASTER HOME KIT
Doncaster Rovers launched their new Home kit by Club Doncaster ready for the 2021/22 League One season.
The shirt is primarily red and has thin white hoops which ties together tradition with a modern design while the white panelling under the sleeves helps highlight the hoops.
The round neck collar has been a popular choice with players and compliments the simplicity of the design.
SWANSEA AWAY KIT
Swansea City’s 21/22 Away kit has been made by Joma and the players will wear a black shirt featuring a zig zag stripe throughout.
The kits for the new campaign form part of a commemoration of the 40-year anniversary of the Swans playing in the First Division for the first time in the club’s history in 1981.
Swansea City will sport a new club crest for the duration of the 2021-22 campaign in a nod to that golden period in the club’s history.
It was announced last month that two local brands will feature on the shirts, with Swansea University continuing as front of shirt sponsor, whilst Westacres will feature on the back of the shirt for the first time.
