Kieran Tierney goes viral for hilariously falling over his own legs

Kieran Tierney goes viral overnight for hilariously falling over his own legs during Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa on Sunday.

The current campaign continues to be it’s weirdest yet, and now Dean Smith’s side has got their fifth win in their opening seven Premier League games.

It comes just months after escaping the drop on the final day of the season, a draw against West Ham preventing their relegation to the Championship.

The Gunners went into the game knowing that a win would take them into the Premier League top four, with some of the ‘big six’ much further down the table.

It all went wrong for Mikel Arteta’s side midway through the first half when Bukayo Saka turned Matt Targett’s cross into his own net.

Arsenal could have been 1-0 down just a minute into the game when Scotland international John McGinn hit the back of the net on 45 seconds from a Jack Grealish cut-back.

Though because Ross Barkley was in an offside position, the goal was ruled out as he was adjudged to be interfering with Bernd Leno’s vision, a lucky decision for those in red and white.

Ollie Watkins, who produced a hat-trick in their stunning 7-2 win against new champs Liverpool earlier this season, made it 2-0 with a header in the 72nd minute before the scoring his second soon minutes later, slotting the ball under Bernd Leno following a quick break.

“As an Arsenal fan to score here at the Emirates is unbelievable,” Watkins told BBC Radio 5 live.

The 24-year-old, who has now scored six goals this season, went on to say: “I think I have another level.

“In the second half you saw what I’m about, getting the ball, setting and spinning and making defenders run towards their own goal – hopefully the more I can do that the more goals I can score.”

Kieran Tierney summed up his side’s performance in the opening half as he had a moment to forget, going viral on Twitter for an embarrassing fall after just six minutes.

Tierney fell to the ground bizarrely with no Aston Villa player anywhere near him. Watch the clip for yourself below…

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said on the defeat: “First of all congratulations to Aston Villa for the way they played and the victory. After that, we performed below our standards and I have to say it’s the first time I’ve seen us play and we weren’t a team.

“I take full responsibility. We didn’t start well enough, we got away with VAR for an offside situation but we lost all the races, the duels and we were sloppy on the ball. When we created chances we didn’t hit the target. It’s a really bad combination. We left spaces and on the counter, we looked really vulnerable.

“I take full responsibility. I am responsible to make the team perform on the pitch and today we were not a team and it is my job. It is why I am standing here.

“It is a frustration. It takes a lot to build momentum, to build a way of being, living and performing and when something like that comes up it’s a hard one to take but in a hard moment you learn more than in a positive moment and I want to see how we react.”

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith said: “It’s a really pleasing performance. Lots of facets to it. It was a good defensive shift from the whole team. We caused them problems with some of our counter-attacking.

“We didn’t want them to have a nice easy game where they could pass it where they wanted. They’re a good team.

“A lot better than last season [on their away form]. We couldn’t keep a clean sheet last season. We’ve kept three from three this time.

“We’re a threat with them [the attacking players] in the team. Really pleasing. They’re all blossoming really well but there’s more to come from them.”

Fans couldn’t help but mock Kieran Tierney as he goes viral for hilariously falling over his own legs… even Gary Lineker was left laughing.
