Fans left pleased as Kidderminster Harriers appoint new manager

Kidderminster Harriers have recently confirmed the appointment of John Pemberton as their new manager on a two year contract.

He comes in after Mark Yates departed the club back in April where he guided them to a 10th place finish in the National League North.

Russ Penn has been appointed Assistant Manager and will work alongside the new gaffer.

Russ will remain registered as a player and will feature if required.

Pemberton is a former Rochdale, Crewe Alexandra, Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Leeds United defender, a playing career lasting between 1983 and 1999.

He then took up managing in 2008 and since then has been at Nottingham Forest (caretaker), Sheffield United academy, Bristol City (caretaker), Northampton Town (assistant and caretaker), Crystal Palace (assistant and caretaker), Chesterfield academy and most recently Chesterfield (caretaker).

NOTABLE MANAGERIAL HIGHLIGHTS:

– Pemberton coached Nottingham Forest’s reserve team to the Central League title in the 2007–08 season

– Took charge of the Forest side which caused an upset in the Third Round of the FA Cup by winning 3–0 at Manchester City

– Kept Crystal Palace in the Championship on the final day of the 2009/10 season, after which his contract expired

– Guided Sheffield United’s Academy to the 2010/11 Youth FA Cup Final – lost to Manchester United over two legs
