Kevin Keegan lined up for Newcastle return once the £300million Saudi takeover is finalised, something which could be done by next week.
According to reports, new owners are ‘keen to generate goodwill’ by inviting him to take up an ambassadorial role as well as bringing in former assistant Terry McDermott.

Mirror Sport understands that the Premier League are now close to giving Amanda Staveley’s P.I.F. consortium the green light to assume control.
Keegan vowed never to step foot inside St James’ Park while Mike Ashley remained owner.
He described the Sports Direct owner’s time at the club as ‘an empire of self-harm’ after a second spell as manager ended bitterly 12 years ago with a legal dispute.
Keegan was a Toon Army favourite as a player before managing the club between 1992 and 1997, building what has been described as an exciting, attacking side whilst winning 55% of matches.
Keegan returned in 2008, winning seven times in 22 games, before he resigned from the club.
Since then he’s managed no other club, moved to Spain with his family, stated that he would never enter football management, and has carry out occasional work as a football pundit for British television.

Fans reacted after hearing that Kevin Keegan could be lined up for a Newcastle return…
I have Pochettino back. I love Keegan knew his name would get mentioned. But if we want to move forward and compete and challenge the elite.
We need a younger manager who is in touch with the modern game. However unpopular it sounds. I give Keegan an ambassador role. #nufc

Good sporting clubs around the world keep their legends close to them, treat then well, and make a fuss. Its good for everyone. And a great example to current players of what could be if they stay loyal.

I would love Shearer and Keegan to be involved in some way shape or form, but think we need to keep our feet on the ground. Let’s get this confirmed first of all. It feels so close. #nufctakover #cans
