Kasey Palmer scores an absolute screamer from 30 yards out in what played to be an Coventry v Oxford cup thriller on Saturday afternoon.
What a game it was, with the Sky Blues taking the lead in the 8th minute as Joel Latibeaudiere’s header was deflected in, before Mark Harris quickly grabbed an equaliser for the U’s moments later.
However, Coventry then regained their lead through Ben Sheaf before Kasey Palmer added a third for the hosts, and Palmer’s goal is a must watch.
The home side took the lead from a corner with Latibeaudiere heading in from an Eccles’ inswinger on 8 minutes.
Straight after that, an immediate equaliser as Mark Harris fires from 20 yards into the corner with potentially the slightest touch off a defender.
Ben Sheaf then restored Coventry’s lead, making it 2-1 on the 10th minute, before Kasey Palmer smashes one in from 30 yards, an outstanding strike and very little Eastwood could do about it, no chance of saving that. 3-1 on the 17th minute.
The first half also saw Brannagan in the book for a late tackle on van Ewijk, Rodrigues booked for a foul on Palme and McEachran booked for what looks like dissent after U’s win a free kick near the centre circle.
A clever move from the League One side led to Stevens sending in a cross for Harris, only to be flagged marginally offside as Oxford tried to get one back before the break.
The goals kept coming in the second half, Coventry awarded a penalty in the 51st minute with Callum O’Hare cooling slotting the kick home to make it 4-1.
Kasey Palmer took a blow to his knee with the challenge, and after being checked out, he was back on his feet and able to continue.
Goodrham found the bottom corner from just outside the box to get Oxford’s second on 79 minutes, only for Coventry to add a fifth through Matty Godden on 84 minutes.
Coventry then made it six with Allen assisting again, Godden there with a calm, low finish.
There was a long delay before the final whistle blew after Stan Mills was stretchered off for Oxford.
