A reliable journalist reveals if Leeds United’s unpopular new leaked away kit for the 2020/21 season, which could be in the top flight, is real or a fake.
It was earlier in June that FootyHeadlines unveiled a ‘first look’ at the the away strip, which will be produced by Adidas following the club’s switch from Kappa.
The clean look jersey features stripes in two shades of blue, combined with gold for the Adidas stripes and a tape on the inner neck.
The Adidas logo is situated on the right chest of the shirt matches the club crest on the opposite side.
Stripes continue onto the sleeves as well as the back. What tends to please fans is including the small Yorkshire rose, which appears on the rear, just below the collar.
After checking out the kit, it’s fair to say it didn’t sit completely right with the fanbase, with many turning their noses up at it.
On Friday, journalist Phil Hay reveals if Leeds’ unpopular new leaked kit is real. To best sum up his answer, he quoted there’s ‘a lot of truth’ behind the design.
He said in a Q&A on The Athletic’s website: “I don’t think it’s a million miles away from what they’re thinking about, but I’m not sure the colours in the images did the actual design justice either.”
After the leaked kit was first revealed, fans described the kit to being dull, the collar was dislike and it was very much the opposite of classy.
FootyHeadlines have more recently colour-corrected the pictures of the leaked away kit in order to more closely reflect the official colors, which are ‘legend ink’ and ‘mystery green’.
Leeds have fallen to second in the Championship table, after taking a surprise hit on Sunday after losing 2-0 at playoff chasing Cardiff City.
West Brom drew 1-1 with rivals Birmingham City and Fulham ended up losing 2-0 to Brentford.
This is what fans had to say when the kit was first revealed on FootyHeadlines…
As the Leeds United’s new away kit for 2020/21 season gets ‘leaked’, the attention of it starting gathering pace and fans started to give their initial reaction on it…

Could this be a “mock up” design or one of series of simple design options that’s leaked and the final version will be more carefully crafted and detailed? Given we’re meant to be tier 1 Adidas? I’d also like to think this would be a third kit or maybe a training wear really.

Colours feel a little dull to me (hopefully just the photo) and not sure about the collar. Don’t hate it – but don’t love it either.

First Gavin and Stacey and now that atrocious Leeds away kit. Pissing it down outside too, what a horrible Friday today is.

I don’t support Leeds, but I rather like the look of that. Reminds me of the away strip from the 2008/09 season. Interesting to see how many have turned their noses up at the leaked version.

If this is the Leeds away kit – I hate it. The new collar style is not my cup of tea at all. #LeedsUnited #Leeds #alaw https://t.co/OhZpU98U4b
