Journalist reveals another off-field Derby development; fans will fume

Journalist Alan Nixon reveals yet another off-field Derby County development and fans will no doubt fume at this latest update.

Wayne Rooney’s side could be handed yet more transfer sanctions by the EFL with reports saying they could get a two-year transfer ban.

That however all depends on if the Rams do not settle their outstanding transfer debts, and they have got a lot of issues to sort right now.

Nixon goes on to say that these reported unpaid transfer fees are now late for a second time, with the governing body giving Mel Morris until the end of September in a final chance for the owner to settle the debts, or else the Championship club could be restricted from signing players until the summer of 2023.

With manager Rooney already having to operate under strict EFL transfer guidelines since this summer – having to bring in five free agents on restricted wages – the news that he may now not be able to bring in any further new signings over the next two years is sure to have left fans of the club unhappy.

Rooney has done an impressive job so far this season considering the testing off-field circumstances the Championship club currently find themselves in.

Derby have so far pick up a total of six points over their opening five fixtures of the Championship campaign, suffering defeat just once.

And if the club indeed be forbidden from bringing any fresh faces in over the next two seasons, the chances of Rooney’s side remaining in the second tier of English football by the end of the potential transfer ban would appear to be slim to none, a miracle would be needed.

Wayne Rooney reveals he is ready to retire aged 35 if Derby offer him manager job amid Championship struggles

As such, the 35-year-old boss and fans of the club alike will undoubtedly be hoping that Morris can resolve the situation prior to the EFL’s deadline, or else the owner could well be consigning the club to relegation to the third tier come the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Meanwhile, Derby County player Phil Jagielka speaks out on reason behind summer decision ahead of move to the Rams.

Jagielka left Sheffield United at the end of his deal with the Blades at the start of the summer and at the age of 39, it wouldn’t have been a major surprise to anyone to see him call time on his lengthy and successful career.

However, many people were left surprised were raised when Jagielka started training with Derby alongside other free-agents during their pre-season as Wayne Rooney searched for more bodies to strengthen his threadbare squad.

Derby were able to offer Jagielka a deal with the club following the EFL relaxing the transfer embargo that had been placed on the club.

Jagielka insists he made the decision not to retire this summer and instead continue playing with the Rams off the back of some advice from players he knows within the game that he has played alongside in his career.

He said: “It’s not an easy answer to that.

“When I started playing football, I played with a lot of older professionals that Neil Warnock brought to Sheffield United and they were great examples.

“I played alongside Sylvain Distin when I was in my mid to late 20s at Everton and there were role models around me.

“It’s conversations you have with these people that continue to play at a high level for a long time that play a part.

“The amount of people that told me to continue playing whilst I can said to me that I would miss it.

“Most, if not every single professional I played alongside, said that so it’s a case of as long as I don’t feel like I’m letting myself, and my team-mates, down.

“I do respect the advice and vision from my close friends and family. They would hopefully tell me it’s time to hang the boots up when the time comes but as it stands, I still feel I can get out on the pitch and I’ll be useful.”

As journalist Alan Nixon reveals another off-field Derby development; fans knew that the Derby faithful will fume, take a look at what was said below…

@TBYPHawk: The EFL are going to want to throw everything they can at Derby, after Derby won the previous court case.

@RollWithIt86: Morris needs to just admit he’s cocked up big time and take the loss. His fault we are in the shitter. Rather than hide away, get the fuck out of the club and take that tosser Pearce with you

@andybedz: It’s not the fans fault we have a crook as an owner. It’s embarrassing. The efl have to do more than throw embargo’s left right and centre. Help get the parasite out of our club!

@Derbydave9: For christs sake Mel clear your debts and get the club sold so we can move on FFS.

@FleetNFFC: The next club like this, will be treated so so different to these cunts because they wont have a wayne rooney

@petrepete: Couldn’t happen to a nicer club #NFFC #DCFC #EFL

@gempopmoo: @dcfcofficial you going to explain all these story’s or leave the fans in the dark still?

@Tonybee1: They should be relegated ffs, they will keep signing free agents!!

@JmIBC: It just looks the like EFL are out to get derby… get fucked, pay your installments you owe to other clubs, pretty simple.

@NottinghamGupta: Never ending saga

@17Dan17: Splendid. Not like our squad needs serious investment or anything.

@ThorpeyNFFC: Derby’s going down with a fiver in the bank, fiver in the bank…🎶😂🔴⚪️ #NFFC

@stokieApb: Can see Rooney walking out on them

@viksinghdosanjh: This farce of Morris v the EFL will only be at our suffering, please from a supporters standpoint just give up trying to one over the other and let our club move on from a tarnished MM era #dcfc #dcfcfans

@taxi83: No need to protest cus MM wants out & he can’t be arsed with dcfc any longer, it’s looking like a longer transfer embargo cus of non payments. Buts its ok cus MM wants out, big problem is nobody wants us dirty goods cheers MM

@Rossyram2307: Not surprised @dcfcofficial are in financial trouble again, meant to take £100 deposit 29/8 and £100 first payment 1/9 for season ticket…. Still no payment taken !!! Anyone else ?? #dcfc #dcfcfans

@forryii1993: How on earth have @dcfcofficial not been deducted points ? They seem to just get away with doing whatever they want.

@shippo8313: So the @EFL still have @dcfcofficial by the balls and the fan’s still have to suffer for it all. How about enough is enough and you an Mel swallow your proudest and let just take whatever is given to us so we can all move on. The situation is becoming a joke now!

@Christo81579438: No club could survive this, especially a club that has already experienced the difficulties we have. It is time for fans and EFL to take action against clubs struggling, Oldham fans sat in the centre circle on Saturday.

@Rik_JP1884: I’m really struggling with how this plays out right now. I’ve been of the opinion that MM wants out, so what do we gain from protest. However, seeing stories like this make you wonder how and when it ends. Maybe it is time that fans at least vent and say it’s time to communicate.
