Jose Mourinho ‘left furious’ by Gareth Bale’s ill-timed Instagram post

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has been ‘left furious’ by Gareth Bale’s Instagram post which has been described as ill-timed.

The Portuguese manager was reportedly fuming with the Welshman’s social media update after he was left out of Spurs’ defeat to Everton.

The on-loan Real Madrid star was missing from the squad that was knocked out of the FA Cup on Wednesday night after a 5-4 cup classic.

Mourinho was asked to explain the four-time Champions League winner’s absence, and said: “Well I think it’s better for me to say.

“So we played against West Bromwich on the Sunday and he didn’t play.

“On Monday I was a little bit surprised by him wanting to have a scan because he was not comfortable with some muscular area.

“So he didn’t train on Monday and then on Tuesday he trained with the team but I was informed that his desire would be to work with the sports science for a couple of days to strengthen that area where he’s not feeling comfortable.

“That’s the reason why he’s not here.”

Another quote from him: ‘Gareth is not on the bench because he wasn’t happy with his training session yesterday.’

‘I wouldn’t say an injury, not at all, but some feelings he wasn’t happy with, so it was better for him to stay back and to be working with the sports science guys.’

Mourinho’s response hinted at some tension between himself and Bale, with the latter only pouring more fuel on those rumours by sharing an Instagram post of the team travelling to Goodison Park without him.

It included a photo of himself training and a caption reading: “Good session today.”

Jose is allegedly livid over Bale’s posts, according to the Mirror, feeling that it makes him out to be the bad guy amid increasing pressure as well as criticism of him from supporters.

Tottenham travel to the North West again on Saturday for a tough test at Premier League leaders Man City, who are tipped to go and storm on to clinch the title.

It remains to be seen whether the out-of-form star returns to the squad.

His return to Spurs is proving to be an expensive mistake after the club agreed to pay in the region of £250,000 per week of his £600,000-per-week salary.

Gareth Bale is desperate for a run of matches to prove that he still has it in him amid a disappointing loan return in north London.

Bale’s been used sparingly by Jose this season in all competitions, however he retains a huge hunger to play on a regular basis for Tottenham to get his career back on track, and especially so that he can peak before the Euros.

Bale has previously said: ‘Leading into the Euros in the summer, that’s where I want to be peaking.

‘The more games I’m playing the better the body is adapting. It takes a bit of time when you’re a bit older, but I am excited to get back to full fitness.’

Fans have reacted as Jose Mourinho is ‘left furious’ by Gareth Bale’s ill-timed Instagram post…

@weepaul2602: He chucked it years ago!!

@philtuck2005: He’s making a ton of cash for sitting on the subs bench like he’s done at Real. Why would he care what Mourinho thinks or says?

@Youngya29521730: He’s actually finished but spurs fans thought he was going to light up the league

@LuccaWasTaken: The welsh willian

@DarrenUntitled: I thought he was hard done by at Real Madrid but now I can see why. What a waste of money he’s been for Spurs.

@jambo9766: I think he likes the money, but can’t be arsed doing anything to earn it! Downed tools at Madrid and is doing the same at Spurs!!!

@Chilesh71951450: That’s the end of his career. Next thing loan to Bournemouth. Warming the bench.

@DeanAtkinsonMBE: He’s having everyone’s pants down. Madrid’s, Spurs, he’s fallen out of love with the sport but every week he’s getting half a million fraudulently put in his bank account.

@Jaacko9: What has football come to 🤣 a manager mad at an Instagram post?

@stevemfc2: Mans a disgrace!
