FA Cup Quarter Final draw in full

The draw for the FA Cup quarter final took place on Thursday, just ahead of the last remaining fifth round tie between Barnsley and Chelsea.

Eventually eight teams will remain in the competition and they discovered their next opponents following the clash between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton.

The draw took place at approximately 7.45pm from the BT Sport studios and was hosted by Reshmin Choudhury with Karen Carney drawing the balls out.

The only cup upset we saw in the Fifth Round came at Premier League outfit Burnley, who found themselves on the end of a 2-0 defeat by AFC Bournemouth from the Championship.

The Cherries reached the FA Cup quarter-finals for only the second time in their history thanks to goals from Sam Surridge and Junior Stanislas

It could have been even more embarrassing had Burnley been kicked out of the FA Cup for their pre-match gaffe.

Speaking after the game about the selection mix-up with Pieters included despite being suspended for the game, only to be notified, Dyche said: “It was an oversight. We did notice it, Bournemouth noticed it and we managed to sort it before kick-off. Bournemouth, very gentlemanly, said they thought we had a player who was not eligible.

“You would like to think if it doesn’t happen in a sporting manner there could be a story the other way but fair play to them.”

Burnley boss Sean Dyche spoke with the media: “We gave two soft goals away. We were chasing the game when we conceded the penalty. We made so many changes but it wasn’t for lack of effort or desire.

“We missed a golden chance through Jay Rodriguez and asked a few questions but not enough. The difference in the performance is sometimes just a collective edge.

“Our keeper has hardly had a save to make. It didn’t quite work out for us.”

Bournemouth caretaker manager Jonathan Woodgate said after the game: “It went exactly as we wanted it but you need the players to execute it, and they did that.

“Every single one of them was very good, especially behind the ball and on the counter-attack. I thought we could have been a couple up at half-time.

“I said to the lads before the game, the more games you win the more confidence you’ll get. It breeds confidence when you start winning back-to-back games.”

@DannyBrodders: Gutted at that draw. We are going to have to do it the hard way if we are going to do it. Let’s hope Man City turn up this time! #everton #facupdraw

@UtdCode: We still Managed to get drawn with Leicester ffs it’s never easy for us #facupdraw

@AP_R07: Equality has even made the FA Cup draw a car crash. Get people doing it who give a shit and have passion. Don’t just let women do it for the sake of it they had no idea it was just numbers and places to them #FACup

@CFCsince1905: Bournemouth aside, that is about as good as Chelsea could have hoped for in the FA Cup draw. This gives us a great chance of winning it. We will only need to beat two big teams to lift the trophy.

@tyler_purdey: Semis here we come then #afcb

@PompeyFan24680 on Bournemouth v Southampton: Worst ‘rivalry’ in the country

@JTuckey1994: Love it how most people are triggered by 2 women doing the FA Cup draw, get over it guys.

@Blamire169: I’d love to see Everton, Leicester or Southampton win it. Ideally two of them in the final as well.

@rollingdeep1995: Entertaining games incoming! @SouthamptonFC will relish the chance to make the semis!! City vs Everton and @ManUtd vs Leicester should be cracking!

@chrissy1893: Leicester are perfectly beatable. Southampton knocked the holders out this season… Everton are better than Leicester arguably? Accept the draw and realise tougher tests are ahead regardless

@FoxyII2: Two women doing the FA Cup draw. Whatever happened to equality….

@leedsinfidel: Karen Carney almost fucking up the fa cup draw by leaving a ball in the bag ahahahha
