Joey Barton has taken to his social media account to speak out for the first time following the altercation with Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel.
The incident happened took place in the tunnel following the Tykes’ 4-2 over Barton’s Fleetwood, where he was upset by the Barnsley media staff before an alleged assault happened on the way to the dressing rooms.

Joey Barton today tweeted: “With regards to the alleged incident on Saturday following our game against Barnsley, I emphatically deny all the allegations made. Given this matter has not been formally closed, it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment.”

Stendel is understood to have damaged two teeth after knocking his head into a metal support at the side of the tunnel.
A man, reported to be Joey Barton, was arrested for an alleged racially aggravated assault.
The Sun claim Stendel called him “a fucking scally”.
It is also said that Barton used offensive words about the German coach’s nationality before allegedly lashing out.
Police said: “Officers investigating an incident at Barnsley FC on April 13 have arrested a man on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault.
