A tweet has emerged from the ‘Common Sense with Joey Barton’ (@Common_SensePod) account: “This fella @Thogden is the most insufferable bore on the internet. These ‘football influencers’ are killing the game as much as VAR or any DEI on our TV today. Just listen to him 😫”

He then shared it on his personal Twitter account @Joey7Barton, writing: “This the fella who was telling the Madrid fans to ‘calm down’ after Barca scored in The Classico 😭😭😭 Absolute sausage 🌭”

Thogden spoke to Adam Smithy on the Inside the Industry podcast, and as seen in the clip above, says: He’ll [Messi] go away remembering me. So if I ever see him again, maybe I do see that.

Smithy: Do you think he will? Do you think Lionel Messi will go away remembering.

Thogden: He never does videos like that. He never does it.

Smithy: Do you think if you saw Leo Messi again he’d remember who you were?

Thogden: Yeah. There’d be a smile on his face. In fact, you’ll see the clip when it happens. And tell me, if you think that smile when he sees my face is genuine. From meeting me.

Smithy: Okay. I will

Thogden: From meeting me. Because that Saudi trip

Smithy: Because he must meet a lot of people all the time.

Thogden: Yeah. On that Saudi trip, of course people always coming up to him. But mine was a personalised, as you said, V-VIP meeting. It was just me and a couple others, no one else. And we actually got a chance to interact. So it’s not like all the wave. It’s not like all the all the things going past him. It’s like there’s actually an only small amount of people that he get is able to have a real face to face with because he’s there’s so many people protecting him. You understand what I mean?

Smithy: Yeah. I know what you mean. So I think he will. Let’s see.
