Jamie Redknapp brutally mocks Gary Neville who is left speechless live on air

Jamie Redknapp brutally mocks Gary Neville after speaking on Cristiano Ronaldo joining Man Utd, and it was a well mentioned point.

The former Liverpool captain has teased his fellow colleague over his long-held criticism of the Red Devils’ owners after they signed their the Portuguese international.

Neville was talking pitchside at Anfield live on Sky Sports having watched Liverpool pick up a 1-1 draw with European champions Chelsea on Saturday evening.

The former Man Utd right-back reiterated his belief that the Reds won’t finish in the top three this season while going on the express enthusiasm at his old club’s Premier League title chances following a busy summer in the market.

However he was swiftly reminded of his previous public condemnation of the United ownership when grilled by ex-Liverpool man Redknapp, which then sparked laughter from other pundits listening in.

“Where do you stand with the players you’ve brought in – Varane, Sancho, Ronaldo?” asked Redknapp.

“I mean, you and your mates wanted to burn the stadium down last year with the Glazers!

“And now you’ve named your hotel the Glazer Hotel! Have they won you over?”

With Sky Sports guest and former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink laughing in the background, Neville responded: “No they’ve not. The Glazers have done what they always do when they are put under pressure. They go and make two or three signings and it shuts people up.

“There are deep-rooted issues at Manchester United. It’s all they could do though – they couldn’t let Ronaldo go to Manchester City.

“No-one can complain at Manchester United about the three players they have signed this summer.

“I made the prediction on Monday Night Football that it would be Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United (in the top three) and I’m going to stick with that.”

Neville, though, recognises that Liverpool could be a threat to Man Utd given their major silverware haul in recent years, a time during which the Old Trafford side have won nothing.

“Let’s be clear: Man City have been exceptional for the last three, four seasons. Chelsea have just won the Champions League and now have a better team this season,” he added to Sky Sports.

“So they’re up against the best three teams in Europe, if you count Liverpool over the last three or four years.”

Meanwhile, David de Gea jokingly asked who Cristiano Ronaldo was when quizzed on the imminent arrival of the footballing legend.

Ronaldo left Old Trafford back in 2009 for a then world record fee but is expected to make his second debut in red on September 11 against Newcastle, something that isn’t expected to be live on TV.

The shock twist has created a buzz in and around the club and De Gea admitted he can feel a change in the air.

He said on Sky Sports: “Who? Well, thing is like a dream for all Man United fans, it’s going to be great you can feel it in the atmosphere, hopefully he can bring something special to make the team better.”

Paul Pogba claimed having such a legend in and around the group can only be beneficial.

He added: “Everyone knows he’s already a legend at this club to have him back is huge, he’ll bring his experience, quality and when he comes the level goes up.

“We’re pleased that he’s coming, the most important today was the win and when he comes we keep this mentality.”

Twitter users reacted as Jamie Redknapp brutally mocks Gary Neville after speaking on Cristiano Ronaldo joining Man Utd…

@LunGzUK: brilliant. that nervous laugh.

@LewWhalley: I just yawn hard when a united fan complains about the glazers. I really dont know how they can complain. They’ve been given what every fan wants to see

@ezers83: He doesn’t have an answer for this and pretends to laugh to avoid the question

@iamSonnyT: Was stuttering and shitting it to get it out! Then got braver as he went on 😂😂😂

@Warryy: @shanecost first time Jamie has said anything decent in about 20 years and he has only worked at sky 8 years!

@makeusdream97: How quick it is all forgotten about.

@trev11818: I thought he was going to come to blows with hasslw@nk as well. Pure gold mr redknapp

@jpwred316: Fair play to Jamie Redknapp. No one held @gnev2 accountable for inciting the riot at OT

@DELAMITR1: Love it Jamie

@jimich38: Got to hand it to JR this time. Cracking comment & so so true.

@gav_in_uk: Exactly! Last year was about a rusty OT with a leaky roof, so unless CR7 is paying for the repairs, where are the protests now? 🤷‍♂️ 👀

@nedkelly56: Blimey. He’s found some courage at last then.

@Richlfcfan: Love the way Kelly Cates put Neville in his place when he said buying Ronaldo won’t make them a league winning team

@Yardie742: Great comment by Jamie Redknapp and Neville was stuck for words and just laughed.

@HeirToWoeGooner: Neville speaks out of both sides of his mouth, complains about money in the game, cries for more money in the game from his club. Cries about meritocracy and the super league, ignores the fact the league is a closed shop at the top anyway. Let’s how often he mentions Glazers now.

@kevezlowey: They’ll be smashing the ground up again when they play a certain club. Fucking embarrassment that was last year. Swept 🧹 under the carpet tho!

@hodgysoft: Bout time someone said it to him

@SteOflfc: @GNev2 was a decent pundit for a while but he can’t seem to hide his prejudice anymore. Him and Sky need replacing.

@Bez_FI: Was quality by Redknapp. Need to see pundits calling each other out more.

@noneshall_pass: That was quality from Redknapp

@eddafc: Brilliant
