Jamie Carragher hits back at journalist Mike Keegan over claims he was ‘blocked from being in the away end’ with Dortmund fans at Man City.
The former footballer turned pundit was reportedly blocked by Manchester City and UEFA from entering the away end with Borussia Dortmund fans during their Champions League match at the Etihad Stadium on Wendesday night.
Carra, working for CBS Sports, marched with Dortmund supporters from Manchester city centre to the ground, joining in with chants, wearing a scarf, drinking beers, and holding a yellow flare.
Mike Keegan reports that CBS requested permission for Carragher to watch the game in the away section, but both UEFA and City rejected it.
Mike Keegan tweeted:
“đ¨ EXCLUSIVE
â Jamie Carragher was blocked by UEFA & Man City from sitting in the away end with the Dortmund fans at the Etihad last night
â ď¸ Fears move would be incendiary & safety concerns raised”
Jamie Carragher replied: “Just trying to have a good time with the Dortmund fans Mike, it was no problem it wasnât allowed. Next time message me & Iâll tell you all you need to know, rather than Simon at Man City giving you a story. Probably explains why youâre so sympathetic around the 115 charges.”
To which Mike Keegan said: “I already knew the facts, Jamie, but you clearly donât. Next time youâre covering a game at City you should probably apologise to Simon for wrongly accusing him of being the source on the story.”

UEFA cited that his media credentials didn’t allow him to leave the press area for the stands, while City viewed his presence as a former Liverpool player openly supporting the opposition as potentially provocative and risky, especially given the rivalry between the clubs.
The idea of him interviewing City players post-match after cheering against them was also seen as inappropriate.
‘It’s been fantastic,’ he said to CBS colleagues Kate Abdo, Micah Richards and Thierry Henry. ‘We had a great walk in from Manchester city centre to the ground.
‘They’re enjoying themselves, they’re looking forward to the game and a little bit worried about Erling Haaland.
‘But they’ve got their own man up front in (Serhou) Guirassy who we think might be able to cause a problem or two.
‘They’re in full flight and hopefully by the end of the game they’re going to really enjoy themselves and I might join them.’
Carragher also had a boozy night in Dortmund’s Yellow Wall during their 2024 semi-final vs. PSG, admitting to eight pints and a hangover while conducting interviews. See more on that HERE.
Here’s how fans reacted as Jamie Carragher hits back at the journalist over claims he was ‘blocked from being in away end’…
@castringblue: Your lack of objectivity around the 115 charges (you brought it up) says everything anyone needs to know about your position lad. All you wanted was to do was to antagonise a fanbase. You donât give a toss about Dortmund but you do about City
@Pritch_23: Been a long time coming but âCarraâ needs to be extremely careful with the way he words stuff & City should absolutely go after him. Far too idiotic his comments this occasion however just being a bellend for the sake of it. Fair play
@mcfcman66: Carragher is out of control with his own self importance and ego.. Throwing out false accusations and fake news whilst ignoring the factual stories on camera where he spits at kids⌠Heâll fall on his sword at some time in the future, and weâll all be there to enjoy it
@AtTheBridgePod: First we had Nixon vs a Pie and now itâs Keegan vs Carragher. What a week for journalist Twitter beefs.
@davemorrow64: Well done @ManCity for refusing entry to the away end for this scouse twat. The tone of his message here and his snidy arrogant irrelevant reference to 115 tells you all you need to know about him and his character. Hopefully City fuck him off permanently
@CW9_MCFC: Underneath Carraghers jovial television persona, is a nasty, snarky and bitter man. The kind of person to spit at a child from his car. Oh waitâŚ
@the115blues: You canât help yourself , Jamie can you. Impartial @SkySports pundit I presume, yeah?
@TaoSantos: I bet he was spitting mad.
@steviemac2010: Time running out for this free loader
@russ_talks_: âI already know the facts Jamieâ youâre literally talking to the bloke youâre writing about you knob stop being such a big baby
