James Trafford and his father share wholesome moment after Burnley’s promotion to the Prem

James Trafford and his father share a wholesome moment after Burnley’s promotion to the Prem, finishing second in the Championship.

The emotional exchange between the two is things you love to see, their close bond, both celebrating the milestone.

His father’s pride was evident, reflecting the support that has underpinned Trafford’s rise, where he kept and this season kept 28 clean sheets in 43 appearances.

Interviewer: James and James, I don’t know which James to start with. I mean, you are the Golden Glove winner, senior James.

James (Dad): I am holding the Golden Glove. But it’s all down to this lad

James (Keeper): No. Father taught us everything in garden when I was young. He taught us, when used to go mad, when he used to score past us with wellies on. And you used to go mad.

James (Dad): He didn’t like it when if he did score past me, because sometimes I would go in the goals, and he would have a go and then let me have go. I’d be out there

James (Keeper): He would score past us and I would start crying

James (Dad): You didn’t like it. I decided to let him win,

James (Keeper): Well, we’ve come a long way since then.

James (Dad): We’ve come a very long way since then, haven’t we? You couldn’t get any further. I’m really proud of it. You know? And it’s, yeah. Really proud of it. Really proud.

Interviewer: All these clean sheets he’s kept this season.

James (Dad): Yeah. He’s done really well. Yeah. What can I say? He’s earned it. He’s earned it. You know? Good defence. Good team is running.

James (Keeper): You told tell us before every game, don’t let them score. They’ve only 16 times. Could have done less like

James (Dad): It’s full credit to the team as well. You know? It’s been a team, you know.

James (Keeper): And the manager. And the manager. Yes. Scott, you know, great. Yeah. No. He couldn’t get any better. Real achievement for the more. That. You know?

Interviewer: Centurion as well.

James (Keeper): I didn’t realise that I have a hundred points.

James (Dad): Leeds scored last minute as well.

James (Keeper): Bloody hell. Would have been nice like.

James (Dad): Could have claimed that, but it’s

James (Keeper):  Promotion. It doesn’t matter.

Interviewer: So all that time in the garden practicing, letting him win. Premier League next season. Him win. Well, that’s what you said.

James (Dad): But not always because he did actually yeah. You you know, he did actually you know, you couldn’t actually, score past him most the time, you know.

James (Keeper): You could, you were always scoring, toe poke. To be fair, when I was nine, Carlos scout came out. I said I was midfielder. And I said no. He said goalie.

James (Dad): And you said don’t say that. Don’t say that.

James (Keeper): I wanted to be a midfielder, but he always said goalie. Goalie. And when I used to go out training, he used to always put me gloves in car. And then one day, I finally said, yeah. I’ll go and go. And then, I’ve stayed in goal since nine. So it’s thanks to the main man.

James (Dad): I’ve done something right.

James (Keeper): The main man.
