Former Arsenal and England player Jack Wilshere comes into contact with a non league club after his West Ham departure on international deadline day.
The 28 year old midfielder has confirmed his departure from the Hammers, releasing a statement on Monday to reveal he had “agreed the termination” of his contract.
He has only played once this season under David Moyes, that came in the Carabao Cup, after missing much of the last couple of seasons through injury.
In his statement, Wilshere revealed that he was fit and ready for a new challenge, still feeling he has plenty to give at the top level.
His statement read: “I can confirm that I have today agreed the termination of my contract with West Ham United.
“When I joined the club in the summer of 2018 I joined with great hopes and expectations and was excited to join the club I’d supported as a young boy.
“Unfortunately, despite all of my best efforts and intentions, it has not worked out as I’d expected. I have been fully fit for a large period of time at the club, including over the course of the last eight months – training hard every day – but unfortunately have not been given the opportunity to play.
“Although I am of course frustrated that I was not able to fully showcase what I am capable of at West Ham I remain convinced that I can still contribute at the very top of the game.
“I am still incredibly hungry, ambitious and desperate to play football and achieve success. I’m still only 28 and feel fit, strong and ready to play.
“I’m now looking forward to the future and hope to be able to make an announcement about the next stage of my career in due course.”

A short statement on the West Ham website confirmed Jack Wilshere is exiting and wished him luck for the future and then comes into contact with a non league club.
After seeing the news of Wilshere’s departure, Southern League Premier Division Central side Hitchin Town got in contact with him over Twitter.
They tweeted: “@JackWilshere if you need somewhere to keep fit while you find a new club, we’re in the market for a 28-year-old creative midfielder from Hitchin. You know where we are.”
Jack wrote back, saying: “See you tomorrow. What time? Don’t need to be getting fined day one.”
Hitchin replied back: “TRAINING WAS TONIGHT, JACK. Seriously though, Thursday night @ Baldock Arena & we’ll allocate you a locker. Safe x”
Who knows, he might just turn up there in order to keep up his fitness until he finds a new club. Now that’s something we’d like to see.
WILSHERE’S NEXT CLUB ODDS:
Rangers – 2/1
Fulham – 5/1
Newcastle – 5/1
Bournemouth – 6/1
Southampton – 7/1
Any MLS Club – 8/1
Celtic – 8/1
Aston Villa – 9/1
Brentford – 10/1
Everton – 12/1
Leeds – 12/1
Fans reacted as Jack Wilshere comes into contact with the non league club after his West Ham departure…
That’s it! I’m no longer a Manchester United fan! An absolutely disgraceful performance yet again! In all of my years as a football fan of this team, I’ve never seen a group of players so lazy and pathetic. We have so much revenue, but buy old players like CAVANI ??? Goodbye.

So @ColU_Official , it’s surely worth asking isn’t it? If you don’t ask, you don’t get! Injuries prevented him being the best midfielder of his generation….. so much a shame, but will always be @Arsenal legend

This would be genuinely awesome if you rocked up to Hitchin training! Good luck Jacko, I hope you can get back to your best somewhere (come to West Brom please), you’re a great player to watch when you’re on it.
