Izzy Brown apologises after Sheffield Wednesday fans fume at footage of him taking a bad corner with minutes remaining against Rotherham.

The 24 year old attacking midfielder has said sorry to the Owls supporters for the part he played in the Millers’ winner which came in the 97th minute.

The Chelsea loanee, was brought on as a late substitute in Wednesday night’s South Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough, however scuffed his corner to the near post as Sheffield Wednesday wanted to press hard for a second goal against the 10-man opposition.

The visitors manage to cleared the danger and broke away on the counter attack to snatch maximum points which will help them massively as they look to avoid the relegation zone thanks to a stunning strike from Freddie Ladapo.

Brown went top of the United Kingdom trends list on Twitter for what happened.

Wednesday managed to come back after falling behind to a bullet 17th minute header from Michael Smith, levelling things up through a Matt Olosunde own goal.

Ladapo however hit a right foot cracker which saw the Owls pick up a sixth Championship loss in their last seven matches.

Wednesday are now seven points from safety in the Championship table with 13 fixtures remaining.

But new manager Darren Moore still believes the team are capable of beating the drop.

“You have got to take your eyes off that (the gap at the bottom) really and approach it one game at a time and continue to try and take the points,” he said.

“The performance was good and the pleasing thing was we got the shapes right against the opposition.

“We got into the opposition box umpteen times. What we need to do is sharpen up in the final third and look to get a cleaner contact in the opposition box.

“There was something there for us to work on and keep that belief and with the games and points as it is we are still in with a shout.”
