Isthmian League club Basildon United have appointed their FIFTH manager of the season in former footballer Alex Salmon.
It came hours after they had parted company with interim manager Kris Newby, who managed to pull off a 4-2 win against Grays Athletic in his first match in charge back on New Year’s Day.

CLUB STATEMENT:
“Basildon United Football Club are delighted to announce the arrival of Alex Salmon as first team manager.
“Alex joins the club from Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties side Burnham Ramblers, where he has forged a reputation for not only bringing talented local youngsters through the ranks, but also for turning things around on the pitch for this well respected Essex club.
“A former player for senior local sides such as Enfield, Southend Manor and indeed ourselves, Alex said, “I am excited to be joining Basildon United at the start of this new project. I understand the local community and really buy into the club’s plans. It is part of my philosophy that I am a manager of a club and not just a first team.”
“I am sure that you will join the management committee in welcoming Alex to the club and wish him every success as he embarks on this exciting new journey with us.”
