Everton legend Duncan Ferguson describes…

He said: I have two fellas broken in my house and I was angry then and but I was angry then because I felt that what they didn’t mean why are they doing this to me because I’m one of the lads I feel as if I was one of the lights and I had like a pass. Dunc’s one of the lads. You know I mean? He’s a good fella, he knows everybody in the city do you know what I mean he’s untouchable that’s what I felt I was untouchable really in my mind.
Tony Bellew: No, but it’s right to feel it because the fans loved you
Duncan: And I felt, what the f*** you know, what’s going on here. Somebody’s broken into my house. And I know it sounds a bit bizarre. That made me angry. That made me angry. Even though I had my wife and a three-month-old baby at the time in the house it was one o’clock in the morning, but that’s what gone through my mind. What you doing f****** breaking into my house?
Tony Bellew: Was the anger instant or was you, was you clam and you thought I’m gonna get hold of these?
Duncan: I was calm to begin with, but once I started going that was it then you know because I really because it was they were quite big lads you know what I mean yeah and I just had this anger in me what are you doing coming in my house I mean I thought I was a good sound I thought I was a sound fella you know what you’re doing breaking into my house I mean if you wanted a few quid I’ll give you a few quid.
Tony: When you first heard the noise?
Duncan: I was on, I was in the living room because we’d been playing a Watford and FA Cup and as I’d traveled back up and as you know after a big match a big fight you can’t sleep so I’m lying on the couch tracksuit bottoms on top off trainers at the side of me, I couldn’t have beat a…
Tony: Were they expecting you to be at the hotel?
Duncan: No, yeah, I think they would I think they might have watched a game on the television this was we played Watford on the Saturday afternoon and we traveled back it’s an FA Cup game but they were probably stoned off the face or something drunk and they’re watching a television and MOTD that they probably thinking they’re probably thinking he’s done in London or something I don’t know yeah it only stayed in the corner so I’m lying on the couch and I heard something a bit run a bit quarter to one, and I never reacted, I just turned you know when you hear something and I was watching the telly and all of a sudden my missus comes in and says come to bed it’s getting late now Dunc, it’s one o’clock, I said I’ll be up in five minutes and then I heard that again, so I’ve just put my trainers on, they were right there, I’d nae top on, I was ripped then by the way, I could take my top off, you know what I mean
Tony: Lad, you’re still in good shape, don’t be kidding no one
Duncan: No I’m not! So I get my trainers on and I get up, and i could see the two shadows coming through my conservatory, you know what I mean? And basically that was it and I for some reason i was quite calm in some these situations which I can be quite calm you know what I mean? When it comes to these things I think maybe because I’ve had one or two incidents before you know what I mean? you kinda, you get used to it a wee bit
Tony: Fight or flight?
Duncan: You know what I mean. And that’s it. So basically, and then, you know, I got a grip of one of them, you know what I mean, and that’s when I got angry, because as I said to you before I thought ******* ****, I thought I was a good fella. I know a lot of people in the city, what are you doing? You must of knew this was my house. They must of knew.
Tony: They just don’t expect you to be in
Duncan: And I unloaded, you know what I mean? But that’s when i got angry. And I really unloaded on the fella, you know what I mean? I really followed in like you know what I mean. To the state where i actually thought I’d killed him. And I basically was trying to resuscitate him then. So you go from then for actually going *****, you know. From actually unloading on the fella to try to help him then, you know what I mean
Tony: Well as I say Dun, it’s just…
Duncan: But it happened in a split second, it was seconds…
Here’s how fans reacted as an interview resurfaces of Duncan Ferguson reflecting on a night two men tried to burgle his house…
@Thr1llhous: Should have invested in a purple burglar alarm
@CycleMe2: What an absolute legend. Still miss big Dunc.
@BKKSomchai: 2 minutes and 59 seconds of him describing himself on the sofa then you stop it when the fighting starts. 🤣
@supa_mags: You know what I mean…
@jasiocollins: “I thought I was a good man”. Dunc, so do we big man. You tried to resuscitate him after you tried to kill him. That makes you gentleman in this situation.
@akmedo:
‘Tried to resuscitate him’
Jesus Christ he’s hard!
@gdc1878: 🗣️ “That’s when I got angry and I really unloaded on the fella you know what I mean? To the state I actually thought I’d killed him, and I was basically trying to resuscitate him then.” THE GOAT OF ALL QUOTES. 🤣 @Everton
@JimSpenceDundee: I unloaded on him …..then tried to resuscitate him 😁🥊
@afccharlie: Haha imagine being that stupid to try burgle big dunc’s house 😂
@Mega_Gooner: There are easier ways to attempt suicide than to break into this man’s house
@FraserKirkpatr1: This comes in right at number one, on the list of stupid ideas.
@mattrhodes5: Salt of the earth bloke..would not want to get on the wrong side of him.
@Angusrockstar1: The two blokes that broke in must have been thick as shit doing that… I mean it’s big Duncan.
@mark1_1878: Duncan Ferguson’s recently pregnant wife and 3 month old baby were in the house as well. He’s going to react because if the two guys – in his house – get past him. What were they going to do to his wife and baby? Understandable how Dunc reacted. I’d of done the same. I hope.
@twit0woo: Laid into him and then had to try to resuscitate him 😂
@YanniLabinsky28: Imagine through the darkness hearing the words “WHAT YE DEIN IN MA HOOSE”? I’d be over them back garden fences like Red Rum.
@DuckyMomo65: He beat one of them up so much he had to start resuscitating them! 🙈
