There were incredible scenes on Friday night as a non league goalkeeper SCORES an equaliser in the eighth minute of injury time.
Newhaven took on Little Common, who had one all three of their opening matches in the Southern Combination Premier Division.
But the hosts put a stop to that winning run, getting a very late draw with Newhaven now sitting eighth with six points from four games.
Little Common are third with ten points, level with Hassocks in second and league leaders Crowborough Athletic.
Newhaven wrote via their official Twitter: “Jake Buss scores!!!!!! Scenes at Fort Road
“Buss comes up for a corner 8 minutes into injury time, wins a tackle and blasts the ball into the net from 25 yards!!!!!
“1-1. Jake Buss the hero. Missed chance upon missed chance for the Dockers, before Buss shows his teammates how it should be done.
“Here it is. Captain and goalkeeper @jakebuss1 rescued a point for us last night with this stunning strike in the eighth minute of injury time. Incredible scenes at Fort Road.
“Tonight’s match sponsors @TravisPerkinsCo have awarded man of the match to g̶o̶a̶l̶k̶e̶e̶p̶e̶r̶ goal scorer @jakebuss1.”
Have a watch of the video and get it on full screen…

@jakebuss1 said on Twitter: “Like to announce my official retirement from football. You will now catch me every Saturday in the boozer showing this video to anyone that will watch it 🤣.”
It was in the 55th minute that Little Common took the lead after Newhaven had started the half brighter and had two good chances.
But it was the visitors who went ahead as a very long throw caused havoc, not for the first time and Common capitalised to make it 1-0.
In the 65th minute, the Dockers should have gone level, with Robinson’s shot saved and Alfie Rogers could only blaze the rebound high over the bar.
Newhaven continued to knock on the door, but continuing to miss some decent opportunities, and with the click ticking down, there was another golden missed opportunity.
The hosts baffled as to how they hadn’t scored at least three the second half.
With time running out, there was a great save from the Common keeper who kept out Ezra Roeg.
And then came the last gasp goal from keeper Jake Buss, and as seen above, what brilliant celebrations it produced.
