Incoming new owners of Southern League Premier Central club Bromsgrove Sporting announce exciting plans amid a much needed takeover.
They look set for a brand new era after being approached by a three-man consortium interested in taking over the club with experienced trio Brian Seymour-Smith, Paul Molesworth and Craig Cotterill wanting to improve facilities.
He also has promotion to the National League North as the long term aim, with fans hopeful this takeover can be just what the club needs to take the club to the next level.
Ex-Bristol Rovers director, Seymour-Smith, is set to be chairman designate, while Molesworth will take the role of director of football and Cotterill as commercial director. Graham Scott is to remain a vice-chairman.

CLUB STATEMENT
The club has been approached by a consortium wishing to come on board and run the club.
They are:-
Brian Seymour-Smith
Paul Molesworth
Craig Cotterill.
Their proposal is that:
Paul will be Director of Football.
Craig will be Commercial Director.
Brian will be Chairman designate.
They have also stated that they have the means to bring in major sponsorship funding (on a commission basis) to take the club forward.
The current board has met with them on several occasions, and gone through their proposals in detail.
Obviously there is a lot more to their business proposal and it will be available for shareholders at the appropriate time.
I have agreed to step down as Chairman and Graham has already stepped down as Director of Football to leave the positions clear. Graham will be staying on as Vice-Chairman.
I will step down after the Stourbridge bank holiday match on the 28th of August, allowing for a hand-over period.
The board have, by a majority vote, invited Brian, Paul and Craig on to the board of directors.
Seymour-Smith said to the Bromsgrove Standard: “In some ways, it’s our local club, we’re steeped in football history and the bottom line was we wanted to put a lot of that experience into a local club.
“Football is about enjoyment, we want to make sure the people who come and see Bromsgrove are enjoying the football that they see.
“We want to get it right on the pitch and we want to get it right with the facilities, we want to encourage the whole community to come here.
“We want to see the gates increase, we want to improve the ground and the facilities, that’s important, one stage at a time.
“Football wise, we’d like to try and get promoted to the National League North but it’s one stage at a time, we have to get everything right first before we start pushing for that.
“Bromsgrove have got excellent supporters and some very hard-working volunteers and staff, and that’s the basis, there’s a real team spirit here.
“The team are well behind the manager, we’re well behind the manager, there’s a real belief that things can get better, we’ve had a really warm welcome.
“Our job is to transform that into actions and we’re going to be moving as quickly as we can, we hope to announce a few things over the next few weeks.
“It’s a step at a time, I’ve been looking at the disabled facilities and the open end south side of the ground, we’d like to do something with that.
“We want to put money into the first team and help Macca [Michael McGrath] develop what he’s got there.
“Everything is really positive, it’s understanding what the manager wants, what the fans want and what the staff want.
“And what we can do to make their lives even more exciting watching football matches than it is at the moment.”

This is what fans are saying as incoming new owners of Southern League club announce exciting plans amid their takeover…
Chris Proudman: The Board has decided……!!! What happened to shareholder opinion?? There has not been an AGM for more than three years and the last correspondence was the cancellation of an AGM/EGM in June 2022. Phil: please let me know how to sell my shares as I obviously have no influence within this organisation despite my financial investment.
Matthew Ward: Financially it is very difficult to operate at this level. The league is stronger than ever. The board has done well with what they have but it will be interesting to see where a greater investment takes us if it materialises.
Danny Crompton: Matthew Ward the board have done well? They’ve sat for 3 years/season watching attendances drop and drop and drop and with gate money the only major income to strengthen on the pitch I doubt it’s fair to say they’ve done well!
Matthew Ward: Danny Crompton Communication has improved greatly in recent months and so has social media content. Real effort has been made to increase revenue but that was always going to take time. All immaterial now as we have a new board to take this on. Wishing them every success.
Ashley Ingram: All 3 of these new board members come with a very strong football background
Lee Jackson: About time!!!!
Noel Martin: Hopefully very good news!
Dave Wood: Probably a bit early early to assess whether this is good or bad until we learn what the new investors intentions are hope it’s all good for us. 🤞🤞
Craig Jon Done: Bromsgrove has its club back
Danny Crompton: Christmas has come early
Peter Jason Quill: Oh wow so the rumours were true, things just got spicy
