Ian Evatt labelled ‘a shithouse’ after taking the piss out of League One high flyers

Ian Evatt has been labelled ‘a shithouse’ after taking the piss out of the attendance of a recent match between League One high flyers.

Bolton Wanderers saw yet another huge crowd in the stands for the game against Accrington Stanley, and was left impressed considering his side can’t reach the playoffs now and his opposition sitting in mid-table.

Two-goal Jon Dadi Bodvarsson came off the bench to help his side to a 3-1 win in what was described to be a feisty derby with one sending-off and nine yellow cards.

In between his goals, Tommy Leigh, whose goal separated the sides last time the two sides met, thought he had got John Coleman’s visitors level in the 73rd minute.

But, a late offside decision against Sean McConville eventually stopped Accrington Stanley’s celebrations.

Bolton’s Dapo Afolayan broke the deadlock to put Ian Evatt’s side in front with his 14th goal of the season. His 42nd minute right foot finish ended his drought of nine games without scoring.

Rosaire Longelo performed a lunge on Aaron Morley which led to his 82nd minute red card and a caution for assistant boss Jimmy Bell.

Evatt said to the media post-match: “I mean it’s absolutely amazing what we’re doing here, and the fanbase, the support. I mean, I was watching the football the other night with the top of the table teams playing and there’s 6,000 there, we’ve got 19,000 here today watching two teams with very little to play for and thats credit to our magnificent fans.

“We can play better than that but they’ve seen a team win, which is good, and seen that what we’re trying to do are the right things.

“As a football club, I’m immensely proud of what we’re doing on and off the pitch.

“The connection with our fan base and the young fans – seeing them wearing Bolton kits – is what matters to me and us in the community.

“We’re building that all the time. It’s a great place to be involved in. I’m immensely proud I’ve got the job I have and we will do the best we can to get this club back where it belongs.

“We’re a newly-promoted team and 67 points with two to play is certainly a good effort,” added Evatt, whose side made it two wins in four days following their Good Friday success at Doncaster Rovers.

“We’ve lost three games since mid-January. In half a season that’s title-winning form.

“In any normal season 72 points has had you in there and we’d still have a chance of achieving that.

“It’s not one of those seasons and we’ve not quite been good enough. We have to be humble enough to admit that but there’s lots of progress and lots to look forward to.

“We want to finish strongly and build momentum for next season.

“I’m pleased with the win because they asked us a lot of questions and made it difficult for us at times.

“But we’ve got that confidence now that we can score at any point – especially late in games.

“When you’ve got players who can come and affect it off the bench, regardless of who I start, is a real bonus for us.

“Jon was absolutely fantastic when he came on. The big man’s on fire. He was outstanding on Friday and didn’t get any goals.

“Today he got the goals he probably deserved then, so I’m delighted with him and delighted with the win.”

Twitter users reacted with Ian Evatt labelled ‘a shithouse’ after taking the piss out of League One high flyers, though rival fans had something else to say in response…

@BwfcFans: Wonder how many he catches this time 🎣

@leebolton73: What a guy

@GregFarrimond: It would be a great dig if it was even slightly true 😬

@stu_wafc: 19 thousand on have won you the league I see ✊🏼💦💦

@Martind97352736: You’ve gotta love Evatt 👌😂

@GrandpaGarner: Who could he possibly be referring 🤔🤔 #bwfc

@Ashcoynebwfc: Catching a lot here 😂😂😂

@damonbwfc: My gaffer. He knows exactly what he’s doing and you love to see it. 😂😂😂

@pretty_boy79: Wigan Athletic live rent free in his head

@BWFCEE: Yet here you are proving quite the opposite 🤣👍🏻👍🏻

@bolton2021: He caught a few with this one what a guy he is

@Kevwafc19701: Which top of the table teams who played the other night had 6000 on?

@htownhero_: He knows how to get Wigan fans to bite so quickly it’s funny asf

@jamulligan78: Why is he so keen to get Wigan fans to bite? If our manager behaved like this, all we’d hear is ‘living rent free’, ‘obsessed’ and all the other cliches. Also, who only got 6000 on? Was he lying or is he stupid? No I’m not ‘biting’, I’m questioning the validity of his statement.

@BodwafcNeil: Mind the gap ⬆️⬇️

@GMac_Coach: @LaticsOfficial living rent free in this man’s head. He needs to give his head a wobble and concentrate on mid table and being in L1 next season. #wafc #UpTheTics

@WAFCFAN2013: I’d be more worried about the part where he says nothing to play for, levels to this game and we are far better than you 😉

@Neil26543847: Guys humouring you and your falling for it , we had 10,000 on , thing is though NEXT season is huge for him , we know he talks the talk be interesting to see if he can walk the walk , clearly could not This season but hey oh let’s see

@SungIassesRon: He admits he Bolton have nothing to play for so he has a pop at other clubs attendances. I’d be really pissed if I was a Bolton fan. #bwfc

@alex_rufc12: if i’m being honest i would rather be in the top two with 5k fans than 10th with 20k 😂

@JakeK4200: Can’t speak for everyone but he’s took 2 points from a possible 18 against the current top 3. Can’t imagine we view him as anything over than a little laugh

@PhilSteel69: He’s really rattled from the latics isn’t he 😂

@AccyForza: Goes to bed crying about Wigan this lad

@joe04johnson: All these comments about people biting 🤢🤢🤢 due to Bolton having 19k they are now in the top 2
