Huddersfield fans fume at full time after ‘absolutely embarrassing’ 3-0 defeat at Burton

Huddersfield fans fume at full time after what they describe as an ‘absolutely embarrassing’ 3-0 defeat at Burton on Saturday.

A brace of goals from Rumarn Burrell and Julian Larsson’s second strike for the Brewers saw them climb out of the League One relegation zone for the first time since September.

It’s a blow to Huddersfield’s playoff hopes, a fourth defeat in their last 5, and sit 5 points away from it with 4 games to go.

“That is not acceptable in any shape or form,” said Huddersfield’s Jon Worthington, per Yorkshire Post. “I have told the players that as well.

“I don’t have the answers as to how they can turn in a performance like that, and I am extremely disappointed at this moment in time. We knew the importance of the game, but they didn’t perform out there.”

“I hope they haven’t [given up on the playoffs]. Because that is a problem if they have. You can’t give up until anything is mathematically impossible and it would be a big concern for me if they have.

“I can’t accept the fundamentals not being there. Some of the duels, some of the tackles. I can’t put my name to that because that is everything that I am not. I call it as I see it and I have told the players that. Today was not good enough.”

“It was fantastic,” said Burton‘s Gary Bowyer, speaking after the final whistle. “I was really pleased with how we went about it. Our strength is our group and that really came to the fore again today. People were out missing, people are suspended and Finn Delap on full debut was man of the match in my opinion.

He continued: “Our intensity was incredible, the way they went about it. The last time we faced Huddersfield we faced 17 corners and today they didn’t have a shot on target. That was down to the intensity and the work rate and the desire of the lads.

“It was a massive team effort, the response from last week’s defeat at Wrexham was fantastic.”

Twitter users reacted as Huddersfield fans fume at full time after an ‘absolutely embarrassing’ 3-0 defeat at Burton…

@Chipstead_Gas: From all at Bristol Rovers… cheers 😡

@stevvy1986: I can’t even be bothered being mad. The players don’t care, why should I care? They’ve given up on the season, they’ve thrown the towel in. They just don’t care. They’re not even interested in their own personal or professional pride.

@Joshyhtafc1908: @EFL @EFL_Comms get involved please, investigate the club this is a club that will be run into the ground within the next 2-3 years prevent this from happening read the room and get the ownership and backroom staff sorted

@mickyh01: If only spending money guaranteed you success 🤣

@mark_s_turner: An utter embarrassment today, and the season as a whole now. Presided over by Mark Cartwright, on top of taking us down last year. Same thing he did at Stoke. He simply cannot keep his job now. Fans giving up left right and centre. Only seeing a change here will do now

@AndyJagger1977: You’re not fit to wear the shirt, you’re not fit to wear the shirt, You’re not fit to wear the shirt, you’re not fit to wear the shirt, You’re not fit to wear the shirt, you’re not fit to wear the shirt

@Zigiclegend19: Jesus Christ, I’m not sure I’d ever get over my club losing 3-0 to Burton

@halifaxterrier: Disgraceful, full refund please

@markykilroy: Get rid of all the football management and direction staff. Go and spend money on someone with a proven record to lead. The amount of wasted money involved is unbelievable.

@westerhampete: Not fit to wear the shirt. Clear out the whole lot of them – every one

@JackBarrowclou1: No shots on target against a team in 20th after having 65% possession is absolutely pathetic. Get almost every single one of these arseholes out of the club because the vast majority don’t give a shit

@AlexNoctaris: Another week of radio silence then, I take it? Just as well really, as the only announcement any of us want out of this account is seemingly never going to happen, for some inexplicable reason.

@AMCTerrier: Be interesting to see if we get a chairman’s update this week or if he’ll avoid saying anything. He speaks a lot and digs further so probably wise to stay quiet but I would love to know what the actual plan is because there is no apparent plan at all. #htafc

@westhtafc: Get Kevin Russell gone too. Another one of Cartwrights mates who has seemed to survive every manager change we’ve had. Another fraud. Jobs for the boys! #htafc

@Stevros1988: @KevinNagleMLS Every week more fans are being driven away from the club. The only time I haven’t renewed since I started out in ’94 is 2014-17 when I was in the press box so I didn’t need a season ticket. Why should I renew for next season when the club is going backwards? #htafc

@BenBarr32683542: @KevinNagleMLS I’ve seen some bad times over the years but never have I felt so disenfranchised with the Club. I want to continue supporting the Club and renew my Season Cards, but I feel the only way my voice will be heard is to join the hundreds of other fans who don’t renew

@Terrier_Jack_: Unlucky lads, you aren’t a bad team, you just need to work on passing, shooting, attacking, defending, goalkeeping, creating chances, dribbling, positioning, game management and also sportsmanship #HTAFC
