Here’s the situation with The Friedkin Group’s #EFC takeover, fair to say it’s 99% done:
🔵The deal’s agreed & signed
🔵Finances are in place
🔵Due diligence done when TFG had exclusivity in June
🔵Concerns over 777 loan resolved
🔵Just need PL approval, could be done in weeks https://t.co/0GuSa4Am1a— Giulia Bould (@GiuliaBould) September 23, 2024
Alan Irwin of Sky Sports spoke more on this: “Yeah, this is great news for everyone concerned with Everton Football Club. As we have been reporting throughout the course of this morning and into the early afternoon, Everton have confirmed a deal is In place with the Friedkin Group.
“In fact, I can read a statement that we have just received from Everton Football Club.
“It is a joint statement from Blue Heaven holdings and the Friedkin Group themselves to confirm that they have reached agreement over the terms of the sale of Blue Heaven holdings majority stake in Everton Football Club.
“The transaction is subject to regulatory approval, including from the Premier League, the Football association and the Financial Conduct Authority.
“So all that released in the course of the last few minutes confirmation that that deal, and we understand that it will be an investment of between four to £500million to acquire the 94.1% shareholding of Farhad Mashiri, that we’ll see the free King group complete the deal and a takeover.
“Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean it all happens instantaneously.
“There are still lots of places and bits and pieces to be put in place. Of course, the deal has been agreed, but there will still need to be that finance put in place, including the debt resolution.
“And the Premier League owners and directors test would need to be met as well.
“But Evertonians might just be beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel.”
Here’s how fans reacted with it a historic moment for Everton as a takeover is agreed and new owners have taken to issuing a statement…
@GullLynne: Bet nobody woke up this morning expecting this news? Let’s see what happens and hope it’s the best for our club NSNO 💙
@jennifermallon1: Winning the lot
@Tom_FtblScout: 8 weeks is a long time to wait for the deal to be confirmed and the Friedkin group will have the own names to be out in place but I’d love David Weir and Lee Carsley to be the number one targets for techincal director and Head coach #EFC
@mcginnisthegoat: Brilliant news of the Everton takeover, proper club, proper fanbase and now proper owners, brighter times coming soon 💙 #EFC #NSNO
@smigger1878: Let’s all hope The Friedkin group get this over line because we cannot continue with Moshiri it’s as simple as that we need a plan to move forward with not day to day under Moshiri 🙏🙏🙏 for thr love of God please let this nightmare end and give us a chance again 💙💙 #EFC
@james_danson: This takeover malarkey has been going on for ages……… yet all it took was a Monday morning to get it boxed off 🤣🤣🤣 Nothings ever normal with Everton is it!!! Still expect the stadium to float away before we actually play in it!! 🤯🤯🤯 #EFC
@talking_toffees: Monumental news & some very much needed positivity which the Evertonians deserve 🔵 “custodians of this iconic football club” – that’s exactly what they’ll be, appreciate that terminology. Time for Everton FC to kick on & for our fans to get the Club they deserve 💙 #UTFT #EFC
@TheRobVera: Two months. If everything goes well. Hey, it all sounds great in theory. But there’s a lot about supporting this thing that in theory should be/should’ve been better. #EFC
@BobMacBobFace: Good for Everton. Maybe new ownership will finally bring some stability to the club, which has been lacking for far too long. Hopefully, the Friedkin Group does a better job than Moshiri in managing both the team and the new stadium.
@Irontoffee: I only hope the new owner brings a whole new team. Everton needs a full clear out. We can’t coach, media team is school level media studies, commercial side is clueless, zero connection with fans…leaking info… full clear out from CEO down… interview skilled people
@sicurrie: Would have preferred #Textor myself but happy a takeover is finally near end game. Bit annoyed they didn’t try to resolve the issues back in July which does make me question the #TFG . Best news is the hapless #Moshiri is finally going who proved time & again how bad he was #efc
@Bozzy18: The thought of going in to the new stadium with Friedkin & Potter to revolutionise the whole thing is very exciting! #EFC
@lyno1984: At long last. Really positive news and hopefully there are brighter days to come for our football club #EFC #UTFT
@LukePeo: Jesus fucking Christ just let this be it #EFC
