Hibs’ Nectarios Triantis takes out two of his own teammates with a free-kick against Rangers

Hibs’ Nectarios Triantis, currently on loan from Sunderland, somehow takes out two of his own teammates with a free-kick against Rangers.

It happened just 8 minutes into the Scottish Premiership fixture, as Nectarios Triantis absolutely cannoned the ball off the face of Joe Newell, and then his went and hit Will Fish also in the face, sending him to ground.

A sore one for both but were able to carry on. Nonetheless, it made for quite the amusing viewing with footage of it uploaded and doing the rounds online…

The goals for both sides soon came after that, on 20 minutes, Nectarios Triantis’ arm caught John Souttar and the referee pointed to the spot after the VAR check. Hibernian livid.

Scott Wright, who missed an absolute sitter moments before, made no mistake with a cracking finish this time to get his first league goal since May 2022.

But then VAR then suddenly took a back at that Rangers penalty, leaving everyone in the stadium baff;ed as to what was going on.

Kheredine Idessane (BBC Scotland at Ibrox): “Looks like there must have been encroachment from Scott Wright from the penalty… so the goal is about to be disallowed. Drama here at Ibrox, not to mention a tad of confusion…”

SFA confirmed that Scott Wright’s goal was disallowed for encroachment by the winger.

But Rangers definitely made they they took the lead as James Tavernier rifled the ball beyond David Marshall on the volley.

On 45+2 minutes, Hibs were level, racing ahead as Elie Youan slipped in Myziane Malida, who stayed on his feet, made his way past Rangers defenders and poked past Jack Butland.

Then on 45+10 minutes, Rangers were back ahead, as Todd Cantwell’s sensational ball from the right was met and headed home by Cyriel Dessers.

Then right at the end, Rangers settle the game as a curling effort from substitute Rabbi Matondo went straight into the bottom corner.
