Hednesford continue to bring in experienced names for the level they’re at

Hednesford Town continue to bring in big experienced names for the level they’re at as they get set for the new season which begins next week.

The Pitmen have brought in 29 year old goalkeeper Jack Rose on a season long loan from National League side Sutton United.

Hednesford have also signed the likes of Jack Bearne, Omar Holness, Abdulrasaq Alamu-Tajudeen, Manny Duku, Zidan Sutherland, Dan Sparkes, Sion Spence, Rob Stevenson, Kory Roberts, Daniel Trickett-Smith, Elliott Johnson, Dominic McHale and Joel Taylor.

The club managed to avoid relegation from the Northern Premier League West Division (8th tier) last season, having successfully secured a reprieve.

They finished 19th out of 20 teams in the table, with 32 points from 38 games played.

In 2023, Hednesford Town were saved and able to still play in the Northern Premier Division West having gone incredibly close to the brink of folding. See more on that HERE.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Hednesford Town are thrilled to announce the signing of experienced Shot Stopper Jack Rose on a season long loan from National League side Sutton Utd.

Jack, 29, started his career at West Bromwich Albion rising through the ranks over 4 years before making his FA Cup debut for Accrington Stanley where he kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Notts County. He subsequently made the move to Crawley where he made his football league debut before he was snapped up by Mauricio Pellegrino at Southampton on a 2 year deal.

A 3 year spell with League Two Walsall followed where he established himself as impressive competition for Carl Rushworth playing 31 times keeping 6 clean sheets before joining Sutton Utd where he has been since 2022 making 51 appearances in League Two and a combined 20 appearances in the FA Cup and EFL Trophy.

Manager Steve King had the following to say: “Its no secret that we have been looking to strengthen in the goalkeeping department throughout the summer and to get Jack over the line is a phenomenal achievement for the club.

“Jack has only ever played at Football league level I have worked incredibly hard to get this one over the line and I am thrilled to have him on board.

“Jack brings ability in abundance, a calmness to the side and priceless experience and leadership skills and we are excited to see him here at the club.

This is how fans reacted as Hednesford continue to bring in experienced names for the level they’re at…

@OzRacing4Life: Great signing

@hunjan11: Excellent signing

@PercentGuide548: Brilliant signing, let’s just hope he adapts well to non league, but given the experience he’s had with such an incredible career he’ll probably do well and what’s good is he shouts across the pitch which is what we need to help the attack and guide the youngsters UTP!!!

@gue5ty84: Sensational signing! Great ambition from the club and owners! 👍🏼

@J45oecoffey: This is a ridiculous signing, at full fitness, he is a top l2 keeper and would fit into a L1 side. Genuinely lovely guy as well.

@HarryHornsby18: Only season before last he played like a top league 2 keeper. Unreal signing

@steafctelford: From having no money to spending it like it’s going out of fashion. 🤔

@ConnorBondonno: Lads how have you done this

@SUCorners: Big drop in leagues however it’s gonna be good to see him get game time!

@SUFC__fan: Wow such a drastic drop. Still a top keeper

@DMCG1991: Some signing

@ahyden95: HMS piss the league is sailing

@J45oecoffey: That’s a drop to Tier 4 for someone 12 months ago was a Top L2 keeper. Massive coup for Hednesford, likely to get his career back on track, still shocked by the drop in leagues though.

@oliswift_182: Unreal signing

@walsall3103: Jesus Christ what a fucking signing for that level

@JCHTFC: What a signing wow
