Hartlepool United’s interim board issues an update on the current situation and plans moving forward following Raj Singh’s resignation.
In it they have also asked fans to get behind the team and showcase the club in the best light to any potential suitors with talks already underway.
Singh resigned on Tuesday night with immediate effect and said that abuse from a group of supporters as his reason for stepping down.
His time in charge has always been a controversial one, due to the running of the club, Hartlepool’s poor performance in recent years, relegation from the EFL and concerns of being dragged into a National League relegation battle.
A message from the interim Board.

Some welcome communication. Crucially, statement confirms that talks with potential new owners have already begun and that the board are “enthusiastic that a solution will be found”. https://t.co/HTkkvoINlK

STATEMENT:
Following Mr Singh’s statement earlier this week and his resignation as Chairman with immediate effect, we would like to take this opportunity to update fans and stakeholders with regards to the current situation and plans moving forward.
The remaining interim Board members will assist and work alongside senior management and staff to ensure that the Club continues to operate effectively and appropriately over the coming months. Additionally, the Board will be supporting with takeover conversations and interest.
We appreciate this situation might be concerning for supporters, stakeholders, staff and players but we would like to provide reassurances that the hard work will continue both on and off the pitch throughout this period. Plans have already been put in place following conversations with senior management and as much as possible it will be business as usual in terms of day-to-day operations. All of the players and staff have been met with and are being supported.
Talks with potential new owners have already begun and will inevitably be ongoing during the identified period. We are enthusiastic that a solution will be found and initial interest from a number of parties has already been received. A formal process has been identified and we will update supporters as and when we realistically can, and as confidentially agreements allow. Please bear with us and appreciate that there will inevitably be a period where we cannot disclose information regarding takeover matters.
We are grateful to Mr Singh for his dedication throughout the last seven years, and in particular for his ongoing support in this interim period as we look to start a new chapter.
As we approach the final stage of the season, we are asking for supporters to get behind the team positively and help driving forward collectively. Your backing and support is needed now more than ever and it can genuinely make the difference to the team come Saturday. Potential investors, sponsors and players are likely to be keeping a close eye on Hartlepool United and this is a great opportunity to showcase the incredible atmosphere that our matchdays hold and how the Club sits at the heart of our community.
We understand the importance of this Club and what it means to the fans and the town as a whole, and we will strive to do everything possible to make sure we will continue to have a Club to be proud of. Never Say Die.
‘Testing times’ for Hartlepool as owner Raj Singh resigns amid fan unrest
Meanwhile, Hartlepool United head coach Anthony Limbrick said that he had spoken to Raj Singh.
“I have (spoken to Singh),” he told BBC Radio Tees Sport.
“I know the position that we’re in at the moment, we haven’t won for a while.
“As a manager or head coach, you’re probably more used to the uncertainty and the scenarios that can come up and that’s no different here.
“You go game-to-game, you go month-to-month and you go season-to-season.
“You’re on a short-ish cycle as it is.
“That’s the life of a head coach or a manager as it is, whether it’s at the very top, down where we are or even lower than us.
“We’re used to that sort of thing so we’re going to crack on until the end of the season and focus on what we need to be doing, and that’s picking up the wins that we need.”
“The mood is the mood, it’s similar to what it has been recently,” Limbrick added to BBC Radio Tees Sport.
“There’s a quiet determination to try and get the wins. We feel like we’ve been playing well, I feel like we had a good performance against Eastleigh last week. We debriefed that game this week, we showed the real positives from that game and we showed the areas where we feel we can improve. We want to be a little bit more clinical in the right areas, we’ve gone over that.
“The mood is similar to where it’s been in the last few weeks, there’s a little bit of frustration that we haven’t got the results that we’ve wanted but then there’s also a determination to turn that around. We feel like we aren’t too far away, so that’s where the mood is at the moment.
“If I look back on the games, I think we’ve probably had two poor halves of football – the second-halves against Aldershot and Fylde. I challenge anyone else to say that we haven’t been – not absolutely brilliant – but good enough to win the rest of those halves and the rest of those games. That’s frustrating – for the players, for me and for the staff because we feel like we should have more wins on the board than we do.”
