The Hart Of Our Club 1908 (@Hart1908) posted on Facebook: “After much deliberation………. what if it’s a defining game of the season? how many tickets are we getting? what time is the kick off? can we get there in time? can we get home? how much is it all going to cost? is the appetite for it amongst the fans still there?
“Judging by the feedback and questions received at recent away games at Solihull, Eastleigh, Rochdale, the fans are pretty much all up for it as usual.
“The message was clear, it’s the last away game of the season and it’s what we do, One of the South East Poolies inadvertently planted the seed for this years theme.
“Pools fans have been through the mill recently but one thing that remains constant is the fans support and togetherness, when the going gets tough, we really are like brothers in arms.
“So for Dorking away, ‘The Blues Brothers’ seems Apt, simple and effective and also should encourage plenty of laughs and songs amongst the fans, and you never know we might see Danny O’Connor shaking his tail feathers whilst walking round the touchline.
“It’s certainly also something the players could get involved in whilst maintaining their professionalism?
Who that was there, will forget Richie Humphreys at Covent garden in his penguin outfit after Crawley away 😊
“And who wouldn’t put it past the Dorking Manager joining in at some point?
“Anyway It certainly ticks all the boxes, cheap, easy, fun and effective and suitable for everyone.
“It has been tried and tested previously albeit on a much smaller scale, at Leicester away September 2008 there was only 50 odd, hopefully at Dorking we can get 500 odd.
“But however many ‘do it’ and remember the more that do, the more effective it is, but either way we’ll have a laugh with it, “everyone needs someone to love” 😊
“What can go wrong, it would look nothing like a funeral procession should we lose 😲😬 Hartlepool United FC.”
Fans will be seen 1980s musical movie characters Jake and Ellwood The Blues Brothers style fancy dress consisting of black suits, white shirt, black tie, shades and trilby hat.
An accessory set online also includes a black fedora style felt hat and black blues style sunglasses while in black suits, white shirt, black tie, shades and trilby hat.
Like many fans across the country, Hartlepool have kept up with the tradition of going to away games in fancy dress, but having previously a big impression in previous years for travelling in large numbers while in matching fancy dress, every season everyone wants to know what the theme is.
For 2023, they went to Stockport dressed as cowboys and cowgirls, and in the years before that, it’s been Star Wars, Oompa Loompas, medieval knights, Thunderbirds, clowns, smurfs and penguins.
