A source told The Mirror: “Harry will be a great addition to EastEnders. Even though he has no traditional acting experience, his character and charm are more than enough to stand him in good stead on the show.

“And with him growing up in the real East End, it makes it even better.”

The ex-Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Tottenham, QPR and Birmingham boss even spoke about how keen he was for a part in the soap, opening up in a recent interview.

Speaking on Fleur East’s podcast, he said: “My ambition for 2021 is to get a part in EastEnders because I’m a real Eastender. I grew up in Poplar, so have a real affinity with the area.

“I’ve already worked out my character and this is the scene…

“Mick Carter and his regulars are in The Vic,” said Harry. “They’re at the bar and one says, ‘Ere, you heard Redknapp has moved back in the area?’ Another says, ‘Nah, he’s moved to that posh Sandbanks’. Mick then says, ‘Nah, he’s had enough of it. He’s come back’.”

Harry added: “At this point, I come into the pub, they turn around shocked and I say, ‘I’ve moved round the corner’. Mick then says, ‘We’re starting up a little business. A bit of this, bit of that’.

“I’d like to be in it a year before they bump me off or something.”

The source also told The Mirror: “Everything has been pretty much agreed and it’s now down to the fine details.”

Ex-footballer son Jamie, who appeared alongside him on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, said the sky was the limit when it came to his dad’s ambitions.

@saintsfcmemes: Redknapp in negotiations to join Eastenders. Talks hanging in the balance as he says he’s only going if he can sign Crouch, Defoe and Kranjcar and the money goes direct to Rosie the dog

It comes within the same week it was confirmed that former Three Lions player Paul Gascoigne is set to take part in the Italian version of I’m A Celebrity. Yep your read that right.

The 53 year old — who played for Serie A side Lazio in the 1990s — has undergone extensive mental and physical tests to prove he’s fit and ready to appear in the show which is due to air next month.

It’s been well documented that the Geordie has a history of drink and drug abuse and doctors and psychologists wanted to be sure he could last the entirety of the TV series.

The Italian show, which is called Isola de Famosi — Island of the Famous and brings in around an audience of 3m viewers, will be filmed in Honduras, Central America, starting on the 11th of March and running for two months.

The ex-Rangers, Newcastle, Tottenham, Middlesbrough and Everton midfielder put pen to paper on Friday, causing quite a stir on social media as users reacted to the news.

His signing is described to be coup for Mediaset — a TV firm owned by controversial former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi, making him one of the show’s most famous bookings.

A source said: “Getting Gascoigne has been hard work but will be worth it.

“He’s such a character. He is the biggest star of the show. He passed all his tests while in isolation in Italy. No issues were uncovered so he’ll fly to Honduras with the others next weekend.

“The fact communication may be an issue will all add to the reality of being stranded on a desert island.’’

The contestants will quarantine in Honduras for two weeks before the show starts.

It is thought UK authorities let Gazza take part as it is work related and he is not travelling to red list countries.

Let’s hope this is a sign that he is happy, doing well in recovery and able to get his life back on track. Go win it Gazza!
