Harry McKirdy takes aim at ‘wrong’uns’ after being released by Crawley with ’37-second’ call

Harry McKirdy takes aim at ‘wrong’uns’ after being released by Crawley Town with a ’37-second’ call from the League Two club.

The 29 year old joined Crawley on a one-year deal after having worked with manager Scott Lindsey at Swindon, but Lindsey went on to beck sacked in March 2026.

Harry also said it felt strange to celebrate being the 22nd best team in League Two, then confirmed his departure before the club publicly announced it.

He took to Instagram, writing on a post: “Met some good people, met some f****** wrong’ens. That’s football. Onto the next.”

And, then on Twitter, he went further: “Touched on it throughout the season. I wanted somewhere to settle down and call home, wasn’t to be.

“Relieved I wasn’t part of a group that took the club out of the league. Thought I deserved more than a 37-second phone call, but again that’s football.”

Crawley have also confirmed Colin Kazim-Richards as their new permanent head coach, signing a new deal having picked up nine points from seven games.

On the 24th of March he replaced Scott Lindsey with the club a point above the relegation places.

The club said in their statement announcing the appointment of Colin Kazim-Richards, who will be joined in the dugout by Assistant Head Coach Julian Gray…

Colin and Julian were introduced into their roles in late March, with the Reds winless in the last ten league fixtures. Back-to-back victories over Gillingham and Newport secured what turned out to be a vital six points for the Red Devils, who were able to secure their Football League status on the final day of the season, with a hard-fought draw against Salford.

The duo’s success was rewarded with jubilant scenes on the pitch at full-time, where the players and coaching staff were able to share a special moment with supporters. Speaking after the match, Kazim-Richards said, “It’s a real local club, which means so much to so many people. This type of club affects people’s lives on a daily basis, and I feel so privileged to be a part of helping maintain our EFL status.”

Club Owner Raphael Khalili said, “I’m delighted to confirm that Colin and Julian will continue in their roles on a permanent basis.

They achieved the immediate objective of securing our Football League status, and I was hugely impressed with the way they handled what was an incredibly difficult situation when they arrived at the club.

They brought a real sense of calm and stability to the dressing room, while building strong relationships with both the players and staff, something I’m confident will continue as we work towards a brighter future for this football club.

I firmly believe Colin is the right person to lead us forward, and I’m looking forward to working closely with him as we prepare for the 2026/27 season together.”

Speaking on his appointment, Colin Kazim-Richards added, “It’s a great feeling to now be able to implement the culture and mindset that I believe this club deserves. We can build on the foundation we created during those seven games, in terms of the way we work, the staffing, and the people we’re working with.

It’s about creating an environment where people can come to work and perform at the highest level, while also understanding the standards of this club and the standards that will be set by us. That includes the type of football we want to play and a mentality of domination.

I’m very happy to now be able to implement all of those things and help push Crawley Town in the direction the supporters deserve. I’m absolutely ecstatic to continue the work that Julian and I have started, and I look forward to forming a deeper connection with supporters as we approach the new season.”
