Harry Arter speaks for the first time on joining National League outfit

Harry Arter speaks for the first time on joining National League outfit Notts County on loan from Nottingham Forest until May.

In 2019, Harry Arter was playing in the Premier League, and earlier this season he was playing for Charlton in League One, before returning to parent club Nottingham Forest.

Notts boss Ian Burchnall said the loan agreement had been instigated by Arter as he gets set for some regular game time.

NOTTS COUNTY STATEMENT:

We have completed the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Harry Arter on loan until May.

The 32-year-old brings vast experience having made nearly 400 career appearances, almost 100 of which came in the Premier League during his spells with Cardiff City and most notably AFC Bournemouth.

Arter, who also won 19 caps for Republic of Ireland, spent eight years at Dean Court having risen to prominence in non-league circles at Woking.

He went on to play for Fulham in the Championship before joining the Reds.

Head coach Ian Burchnall said: “We’re delighted that the opportunity to sign someone of Harry’s pedigree has presented itself to us.

“This move was instigated by Harry himself, which demonstrates his character and determination to play competitive football, and we’d like to thank Forest for their cooperation in making the deal happen.

“We’ll obviously have to build Harry’s minutes gradually initially but with so many games coming up in quick succession we’re confident he’ll be up to speed quickly and will be a big help to us.”

– STATEMENT ENDS –

“The level’s not important for me any more, it’s just about trying to find some enjoyment, which hasn’t been there for a while with my situation at Forest,” he told BBC Radio Nottingham.

“There was no end goal at the end of the week, I knew I was never going to play at Forest, I don’t think I was registered for the squad going forward this season.

“To accept that was tough and with a move abroad falling through quite suddenly towards the end of the (transfer) window, that didn’t leave me many options.”

“It’s frustrating, obviously. I spoke to (head coach) Steve (Cooper) and he gave me his opinion and you have to accept it,” Arter said.

“It only feels like yesterday I was playing for Bournemouth in the Premier League and in the space of two or three years so much has changed.”

@vilijamjebog: thats unreal. exactly what we need. a hard battler. palmer to pull the strings. arter to put in the two footers. midfield sorted

@DarkDeer_8: Look after him, you’ve got a great player there. A cherries legend and a player I miss seeing play at dc.

@mriordan__: Wtf hahahaha

@AdamCharlie10: If he can get going that’s an unreal signing for you guys!

@NottsCountyZone: Holy sheet

@ohwhenthenotts: Wow. Didn’t see that coming. Just the lift that we all need.

@beckyellis7: Yay welcome to Meadow Lane 🤩🖤🤍

@churchill_brian: Number 8 , number 8 #afcb

@danmendles0n: Wow, Notts County getting Harry Arter on loan is mental. Plus others like Wrexham pulling in league 1 and 2 players. The financial power some National League clubs have now is scary. Makes me wonder how kiddy would now compete in the NL should we get promoted

@JohnCarty1:
Huge signing, where did that come from?
Onwards and upwards, COYP

@Wozz77: Good signing, surprised he’s dropping into non league tbh

@Dannyfrost67: The wages they must be paying him is ridiculous

@maxseth02: Wasn’t expecting that. But welcome Harry

@RangeUK: Lets go! Bulk up that midfield with experience & quality! COYP

@WillParf: The transfers in this league this season make zero sense

@joeharrod12: Another outrageous conference signing as a result of being Forest’s neighbours. If Wrexham were signing these lads there’d be riots

@SactownMariner: bloody hell this is one hell of a signing.

@adamjamesred: Cracking signing for Notts. Should be excellent in this league and give some much needed protection to our defence. Very satisfied with this and hopefully he can hit the ground running 👍

@Harry_griffin92: HAHAHA WTF YOU PIES

@NottsCountyTalk: Football is absolutely mad. We’ve gone from confidence levels on the floor as a fan base to buzzing within the space of 24 hours… Palmer and Arter in a National League midfield

@diamondgeeezer: Crikey… That’s a great addition. Didnt expect that.

@remotemagpie: haha that’s out of the blue. quality signing

@brandonca03: What in the fuck

@SteveShovlar: Seriously top signing. Harry Arthur way, way too good for a NL team.

@Mr_Stozza: National league is insane these days

@MagpieCirclePod: How the hell we pulled this one off?!! #BigClub

@atokkers: One normal day of vanarama pls

@Jamie_Reeve: Been crying out for some bite and experience. Fear it’s too little too late though

@HollyFowler100: Woke up from a nap to this, might have to nap again
