Goodison Park vandalised by Everton fans with new manager set to be revealed

Goodison Park has seemingly been vandalised by Everton fans with the club’s new manager set to be revealed according to reports.

Supporters of the Toffees have put up banners against the club’s board while another wrote a graffiti message after it emerged Vitor Pereira is favourite to take over from Rafa Benitez.

Vitor Pereira is expected to be confirmed as the next manager of Everton this week, after re-emerging as owner Farhad Moshiri’s preferred candidate for the job.

That’s according to Dave Maddock of the Daily Mirror, who on Tuesday night reported that Portuguese coach has re-emerged as Farhad Moshiri’s preferred candidate.

But judging by the reaction of Everton fans, they aren’t pleased and instead want Frank Lampard, who has been out of work since leaving Chelsea this time last year.

Protests aimed towards Everton owner Farhad Moshiri continued on Monday night as banners were hung outside the stadium.

A tweet from “@27YearsCampaign” showed three banners hung up and tied to a fence outside the ground, with one related to Kia Joorabchian’s appearance in the directors box for last Saturday’s match against Aston Villa.

The agent has been linked to numerous names rumoured to be of interest to Everton in their search for a new boss, and has represented players who have made moves to Merseyside in the past.

One banner read “Kia not welcome,” as supporters continue to bring perceived issues at the club to the attention of the owner.

It’s not the first time they’ve sprayed messages onto stadium property as they vented out frustration at many of their previous managers as can be seen below.

Another of the banners which has been on display at recent matches said: “Moshiri; if you want success then change this mess NSNO.”

This comes after a sit-in protest which took place following the Premier League loss to Aston Villa at the weekend, with a number of Toffees fans staying in both the Gwladys Street and Park End to chant over an hour after the full time whistle.

The 27 Years Campaign has been named in relation to the amount of time Everton have waited without a trophy and previously organised a walk-out protest against Arsenal at the beginning of December.

It isn’t yet clear if more protests are planned for the future, however it’s highly likely something we’ll see and backlash ramps up.

Everton are back in action at Goodison Park on the 5th of February when they take on Brentford in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Twitter users have reacted with Goodison Park vandalised by Everton fans and new manager set to be revealed…

@bruceg87: Frank Lampard was 9th with Chelsea after spending Millions lol. Vitor Pereira has won leagues in 3 different countries. Why the hell would you want Lampard?

@Sean23Waller: Times must be bad if you want Lampard in

@tomosefc: This sort of action isn’t gna make players wanna stay or even come to us. It does show how desperate the fans are though. Moshiri isn’t fit for purpose @Everton

@FranklinD114: These fuckers are never happy, Pereira has won leagues in three different countries including the Chinese league where Rafa struggled in. Give the man a chance you bunch of doylems.

@EFCMichael7: Got top 4 with Chelsea with a transfer ban, developed youngsters incredibly well such as Mount and Reece James. Vitor Pereira has managed nobody and has 0 premier league experience

@seahampirlo: Started already hahahaha god bless Everton Football Club

@leads:
*sighs*
Let’s hope Pereria turns out to be vaguely competent.
Have to get behind him otherwise any last dregs of hope are truly lost.

@tomclaret: They’ll be gutted if Pereira does well and they haven’t got anything to relentlessly whinge about

@taylor3439: Our fans are some of the worst. A shame when we also have some of the best as well. Oh well just because your not happy because twitter made you angry and think you need to hate the club in every way possible. I’d be gutted if I had kids and all these sad old men ruining EFc

@_luke1878_: must’ve forgotten his bedsheet

@tomcarrollefc44: I don’t want him, but this isn’t the answer fs

@AgainstLeague3: Pereira won league titles in three different countries. Lampard took pre-crisis Derby from 7th to 7th and Chelsea to 9th.

@Mikey_Symington: Before he’s even appointed… what a classless lot we have become.

@Alanf_1878: Am not for graffiti on goodison but i agree with this one…. ILL HAPPILY SAY IT NOW I DONT WANT PEREIRA MORE THAN I DIDNT WANT BENITEZ thats how bad this decision is!

@adrianwelchhh: Everton will never go places simply because they’re never optimistic with any appointment

@aimeeobrienxo: Hate some of our fans yerno. Why would your first thought be to graffiti the ground. Embarrassing to say the least.

@smokeyibz: How lamps got the streets like this

@TacticallyEv: This has annoyed me so much. Create banners, fly planes, confront the board but don’t deface our beautiful stadium.

@MichaelNUFC_: If this was Newcastle fans…

@NotSoLocalHero: Pereira out before he’s even in.

@DMass1990: Shambles of a club

@NeilA1878: Nor Pereiras fault, he’s just someone coming in to do his best to keep us up, he might be brilliant. Why are people so scared to say Moshiri out? He’s the one making all the bad decisions.

@getonthedamnant: Everton, the People’s Club, showing their unconditional support once again

@AlfiesSquad: Why can’t these people ever vandalise in a straight line??

@MozzaCol: I don’t want pereira anywhere near our club, but this is the depth we’ve sunk to.. this is really poor showing. We don’t need a “campaign” that’s dead for me after last night. We need to unite as a fan base make our voice heard the correct way as a whole and not the elite few.

@iamawayrightnow: This is never the answer, but it shows just how frustrated our fan base is right now. Another clueless appointment in Pereira. #EFC #Everton

@AJG_BC: Other Everton fans are calling this “classless”, I don’t know if everyone is actually aware but relegation is a really real threat and if they get this wrong we’re down simple as of course fans are going to react rightly or wrongly
