Gillingham amuse fans with their latest signing announcement video

Gillingham amuse fans with their latest transfer signing announcement video with Jack Nolan joining from Accrington Stanley.

The Gills have made their third signing of the summer transfer window with the winger coming in for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old scored 17 goals in League Two last season, with Accrington finishing the 2023/24 League Two season in 17th place.

GILLINGHAM STATEMENT:

Gillingham have completed the signing of Jack Nolan from Accrington Stanley for an undisclosed fee.

Nolan, 23, scored 17 times in 53 appearances last season including two on the final day of the campaign at home to Tranmere.

He began his career in the academy at Reading but made his professional debut for Walsall in January 2020 in a home game against Crawley.

In 2020/21, Jack played a further 12 games for the Saddlers before joining Accrington in the summer of 2021.

He has spent nearly three years at the Wham Stadium and, in total, has featured 80 times and scored 18 times in all competitions.

On the international stage, Nolan was capped four times by England U21, scoring once, against Germany.

On signing his contract, Jack said: “I am absolutely delighted and am looking forward now to the start of pre-season.

“When I spoke to the Manager I felt wanted and once I’d had the conversation my mind was made up really. I will give the best for Gillingham, and my teammates.”

Manager Mark Bonner added: “Jack joins following an excellent season and at an age and stage of his career where he has accumulated good experience but, vitally, has lots more to come. It’s his potential that excites me and gives us all a challenge to get the best out of him.

“He’s determined to continue performing at a high level and will add quality to us in a wide area. Jack has outstanding delivery from crosses and set plays, is coming off the back of a season full of goals and assists, and will fit well in to our team.”

ACCRINGTON STATEMENT:

Accrington Stanley can today confirm that winger Jack Nolan has joined Gillingham for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old, who arrived at the Wham Stadium on Thursday 5th August 2021, then made his debut in the Carabao Cup nineteen days later – grabbing his first goal against Leicester City U21s in the EFL Trophy.

He played a total of 80 times for the Reds, with the winger scoring 17 more goals and providing 17 assists.

Jack said: “I’d just like to say a massive thank you to everyone associated with Accrington Stanley for the last three years, by far the most I have enjoyed my football in my career so far!

“From players past and present, staff both on the pitch and off it, and to Andy Holt and the rest of the Board, I thank you all for making my time at the club one to remember.

“To the fans and the community of Accrington, I thank you all for treating myself and my family as one of your own from the very first day and is something we are all grateful for.

“I’ve met people at the club and in the area that will remain friends for life. I wish John, Ged, and all the lads the very best for the new season ahead. I will be back at Accrington soon, as a fan, that’s for sure.”

John Doolan added: “We want to thank Jack for all his time, his effort, and everything he’s done for the club.

“He had an unbelievable season last year and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Everyone at the club wishes Jack all the very best for the future.

The signing comes days after Gillingham, who 12th place, six points adrift of the League Two playoff spots, also went viral for announcing new signing Armani Little outside Costa Coffee on the town’s high street.

He was also unveiled alongside Gillingham defender Shadrach Ogie in the new third kit.

Instead of holding a press conference or posting a tweet, the club took him to Gillingham high street with a crowd gathering, surprising shoppers.

The announcer said: “We didn’t have any good ideas and we went ‘Sod it, let’s go to Gillingham high street and just invite people to come and see it’ thinking we’ll put it out on Twitter and 10 or 15 people might rock up.”
