Get up to date with the latest news from Liverpool FC

We are just about to reach the halfway stage of this season’s Premier League campaign, and at both ends of the table, things are looking closer than ever. At the bottom, 17th to 20th are separated by just 3 points. While many consider Norwich to be essentially already relegated (with odds of 1/6 to do so), some oddsmakers also feel Newcastle will also finish in the bottom 3, giving them odds of 4/6 to be playing in the Championship next season, despite being recently bought by very wealthy owners. These are odds that fans will need to consider seriously before betting on.

With matches coming thick and fast in the Premier League at this time of the season, fans are always looking for new places to find odds and place bets. Some bettors consider using Offshore Sportsbooks as a new source for soccer odds, where the betting markets might vary slightly from their usual betting websites. These sportsbooks should certainly be taken into consideration if you are a passionate sports bettor.

If we look up the Premier League table, we see Manchester City in 1st place on 44 points, with Liverpool not far behind, with 41 points in 2nd place. Jurgen Klopp’s men are doing very well to keep pace with their Manchester rivals, so hopefully, we will have a real title race this season. The city is the favourite to win the league at 7/2, with Liverpool slightly back on 7/2.

With Liverpool playing several times over the coming weeks, fans will want to catch up on the latest news coming out of the club to have all available information before looking for odds on the club. Therefore, read on to find out the latest happenings from Klopp’s team.

Leeds match called off due to COVID-19

Watching soccer on Boxing Day (26th of December) is incredibly popular in Britain. People who are often away from their hometowns during the rest of the year will usually visit their local ground with their families to see how their club is doing and possibly bet on the outcome. Many fans from Liverpool would have been looking forward to doing just that this year, as their side welcomed Leeds United for the first game of the busy Boxing Day schedule.

Unfortunately, fans were left disappointed, as the game was called off due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Leeds United squad. They have informed the Premier League that they wouldn’t have enough fit and healthy players to fulfill this fixture, so there was no choice but to postpone it.

This certainly irked sports bettors, who saw the odds of Liverpool winning (clear 2/13 favourites) as very appealing indeed. However, this could work well for Klopp, as he too had many big stars missing through COVID, such as Virgil Van Dijk, Fabinho, and Thiago, so now they will have a chance to recover before their next fixture.

Still unclear when AFCON stars will have to head off to Cameroon

Several of Liverpool’s key players, such as Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Naby Keita, will be representing their countries at the 2022 African Cup of Nations, being held in Cameroon. The tournament kicks off on the 9th, with Salah’s Egypt the current betting favourite, with odds of 9/2 to win the tournament.

While Liverpool will want their players to do well in this tournament, they are loathed to be losing them at such a key time. The start of January is very busy, with key fixtures against Chelsea (later on), Brentford and Crystal Palace coming up and the League Cup semi-final against Arsenal. Klopp is hoping to keep them around until they’ve played the Chelsea fixture on the 2nd but is still in the dark about when they will have to leave, less than 2 weeks away. Bettors who frequently bet on Liverpool will hope that Salah and Mane are not missing for too many games.

Huge game with title implications on 2nd of January

Fans have a huge game to look forward to on the 2nd of January when Liverpool travel down to London to take on Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel’s side is currently in 3rd place, just 3 points behind Liverpool, so the outcome of this game could have a huge knock-on effect on how the table looks come to the end of the season.

As we speak, Liverpool is the current bookmaker’s favourite at 28/20, with Chelsea at 2/1. This could, of course all change if Salah and Mane are not available, as then surely Tuchel’s men will become the clear favourite. Whatever happens, this is one game that fans and bettors cannot afford to miss.
