Gary Neville hits out at the red card decision after celebrating Salford City grabbing another late winner, this time at Walsall.
Matthew Lund’s stoppage-time goal ended what was a stunning finale, as Salford came away with a dramatic 3-2 win at Walsall despite being down to 10 men.
Salford took the lead through Callan Hendry’s header, but Louie Barry was sent off for ‘lashing out’ at Joe Low, with the latter seemingly throwing himself to ground more than anything.
Jamille Matt got the leveller for Walsall with around half an hour to go.
Conor McAleny netted Salford’s goal in the 88th minute, but suffered another set back when Walsall got an equalised through Conor Wilkinson on 95 minutes.
Just like they did against AFC Wimbledon, the Ammies fought back, and thankfully for them, Lund won it at the other end to make it 3-2 two minutes later (90+7′).
The result now sees Salford climb into the League Two playoff places, sitting 6th with 72 points from 44 games played, and also have the same points total as Bradford (7th place) and Mansfield (8th place) but the later two have a game in hand over Salford.
IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!!!

More on that red card for Louie Barry and this s what Gay Neville said about it: “Wow that’s a shirt grab! The big lad fooled us all.. Never a red”
When asked if an appeal can be expected, he replied: “100%!!”
Never a red pushed my brother harder than that 🤣🤦♂️👍@SalfordCityFC @EFL @GNev2 pic.twitter.com/j38MDzhlfX

Salford boss Neil Wood said, as per NewsChain: “I thought after the Wimbledon game you only get those once a season but credit to the players because they showed some character.
“It’s not a one-off, it’s not a coincidence, it’s part of us. We keep going and this squad of players never gives up, they go to the end.
“We’ve got a big game next against Carlisle – we can only look after what we can do, we’ve got to go out to win the next two games, if we do hopefully that puts us in a really strong position.
“There’s big games around us – we’ve got two left, some teams have got three left.
“High-pressure games – it’s a mentality of going into games knowing you have to win, that’s different, that’s new but I feel we are in good form.”
Interim Walsall boss Mat Sadler said: “I would have an argument with anyone who didn’t believe the players didn’t give everything they had and I truly believe they gave every part of them.
“They want to feel better about themselves – nobody wants to be on a one-win-in-21 run. Belief when you are on a run like that is really low and it’s hard to come by.
“It meant a lot to the players to try to put things right and it’s just absolutely gutting it just fell short at the end.
“We all wanted to get that win, we all wanted not to be feeling like where we are now. What I will hold on to is the fact they really did give everything.”
Gary Neville screams in delight as Salford score in 95th and 96th minute to seal comeback win
Twitter users had plenty to say as Gary Neville hits out at the red card decision days after celebrating Salford grabbing another late winner…
@ScottWfc1888: But look at the amount of times your players conned the ref keep going down and pretending to be injured every few minutes they was an absolute embarrassment
@jtcas6: Brought it on himself for trying to give it the big un after what was just a very good challenge
@simmomu1971: Any players faking face injury like this when never touched should be banned for 3 games..instant result will be no faking simple as that
@SYsaddler: Remember a couple of weeks ago when Kane did exactly the same against Everton you said if that happened to one of your teammates when you were playing you would expect them to have done the same to gain an advantage, well there you go, he did exactly what you would expect
@jimmylatham8: Tell you what though Gaz that’s some tackle that 😍😍😍😍
@elixt_1: It was a good tackle, your player overreacted and let’s not forget Salford spent about 20 minutes of the game on the floor as well pal
@northvillan: Even gave it jazz hands whilst going down
@cambo_tonks: Yeah well mate a games a game Your players did pathetic stuff like this all game conning the ref by going down for nothing such as faking that Knowles clipped the keeper, it didn’t happen and just constantly going down for an “elbow to the face” your players are the most pathetic
@DMCG1991: Try teaching your players to stop using their hands when they are tackled. Great tackle too. Has someone got their arse in their hands because there’s a new media darling in Wrexham?
@tappo99: Players in every league do it. Cheat and try to get opponents booked or sent off!! It’s pathetic and I’m not sure how they can look themselves in the eye!!!
@GeorgeRobottom: Yes it’s dissent. The fact he’s #1 Laid his hands on him. #2 Grabbed his shirt. #3 Pushed him down. #4 Reacted physically and was completely uncalled for. Yes, should be a yellow for dissent on low maybe.
@n_chapman74: Pro footballers are feigning incidents left right and centre. I’m not a fan of VAR but no wonder it doesn’t work in football. Everyone trying to con everyone. Makes decision making impossible. In rugby no one is trying to con anyone. Footballers need to stop cheating.
@chrisw333: They need to start bringing in long bans for this. 10 games or similar. Pathetic.
@JamieJacko87: How’s about he doesn’t turn into a psycho for a decent tackle
@TomJebb8: Let’s face facts if Louie Barry didn’t react, he wouldn’t of got sent off! I think we should all be admiring the tackle tbf than the sending off 👏👏👏
@Walleemc: Shocking antics by the defender. Booking for him in my book.
@StevenS67344402: And what about all the same play acting from Salford? I see that got mysteriously omitted….
@1SamRafferty: Why is he holding his face???
@Stmorgan27: Definitely a sending off.
@lovejoy_77: Worst red I’ve ever seen 😂
@glennthered: Embarrassing 🤡
@HarryyWFC: you can’t raise your hands like that? it’s a red
@ccrowther94: Great tackle as well
@schwitzyoo: Looks like a Low blow to me
@m4rc0_p0l0: i’m sure your captain and your ‘keeper did the same too Gary
@EroLynch1888: That’s embarrassing. They need to start banning players for this. Makes the game look so bad compared to other sports.
@BluebellsPDCarm: Down holding his face. Disgrace.
