Fulham boss Marco Silva praised by fans for his response to reporter’s Man Utd question

Fulham boss Marco Silva praised by fans for irritated response to reporter’s Man Utd question in his pre-press conference on Friday.

He snapped during a press conference when questions were predominantly focused on Manchester United rather than his own team ahead of their match.

Silva wanted to discuss Fulham’s game plan and team, but the line of questioning from journalists kept steering towards Manchester United’s recent performances and comments made by other managers about them.

This redirection of the conversation away from Fulham’s strategies and towards United’s situation seemed to have irritated Silva, as he felt it was dismissive of his team’s efforts and position in the league.

His frustration was also highlighted by his response to questions about United’s form, where he stated that Fulham’s position in the league table had nothing to do with sitting above United, underscoring his desire to focus on his team’s merits and game plan rather than the opposition’s shortcomings or achievements.

He can be heard saying in the video above: “As I said before, and, we are here to talk about Fulham and Man United. If you want comments from from Man United, then if you want comments about, what the people say, you have to ask for the people or for different manager, not for me.

Reporter: Okay. So from your perspective this weekend, one defeat in 10 matches, a few draws thrown in there as well. How do you feel, though, about that run? You’re 7 points ahead of Manchester United at the moment, going pretty well.

Silva: “We are going really, really well. It’s not because the position of Man United. Sorry.

Reporter: But for you, your position in the table, I mean, we’re competing.

Silva: About ourselves. Yeah. You want to talk about ourselves? Okay. Okay. But you mentioned the position of Man United. I was a little bit confused now.

Reporter: Bit far ahead of a club like Manchester United. You’re, I think, not far off sometimes.

Silva: Sorry to, sorry to interrupt you. You are in a very good position because you have been doing really well. Nothing related to the position of Man United. You are doing really well. You are the position you are because you have been strong enough. You have been competitive enough. And if you are there, doesn’t matter what is the team that is below us or or above us. We are there because probably you have to be even in a different position, but it’s about ourselves, not about the position of the the team that we are going to play against. And I repeat again, massive respect with them.

As mentioned, Fulham boss Marco Silva has been praised by fans for his response to a reporter’s Man Utd question…

@HLTCO: Marco Silva, take a bow. He dealt with that calmly but made a point that fans of so many clubs outside of the established “big boys” will have wanted to make themselves. Things don’t need to be framed in that context, Fulham’s success is about Fulham only.

@DaveHo1mes: The first question asked to Nuno the other week was about Haaland’s contract extension…

@Smittcmd: Why is Man United even in the conversation? Forest, Bournemouth, Brentford, and Crystal Palace are all ahead of them. 😅 Is it because of Man United? These teams are simply doing better. Times change, United is not what they used to be.

@DavoDlord: I love Marco for this. Some reporters are below par in their reporting job

@FlexUTD: Fair play from him!

@nyengerazvidzai: Someone had to say it. Embarrassing that most of the times you don’t even hear questions about the actual match. Anything else but that particular match 😂😂😂

@pjeary: As much as I don’t like this whining bloke, he’s actually bang on here, sky reporters still clinging to the notion of their own “big 6” sorry but it doesn’t exist and Silva’s quite rightly telling them there are other clubs in this league

@deakinkoz: Fair play…. everyone is sick of all this media bias towards “the big 6” …. talk about the other clubs!

@bbsts_: That was a great answer btw those reporters cn ask unnecesary QNS at times

@bodenknights: Well done Marco Silva, the sooner folk realise that we’re not all here to talk about the big six, the better. Everything is about creating an angle to link to them – do the other 86 PL/EFL clubs not matter? Seemingly not

@SiORegan: Well done Marco 👏 Fulham are 7 points ahead of Man Utd because Fulham have a vastly superior manager, who is coaching a squad of players who are better & work harder than Man Utd. It must kill Sky to see one of their Sky6 teams being so shit but everyone else enjoys it immensely

@Giraffy_the_wze: Great response from Marco Silva. Fulham are where they are because they are a good team has nothing to do with man utd.

@UtdCNCT: Journalists will do literally anything to talk about United

@andymasonirons: Well said 👏👏👏👏 it’s about time someone has done this skysports think they’re an extension of MUTV fuck off

@TilehurstRed: Same with Nuno last week being asked about Haalanda new contract! Who gives a toss outside of Man City?! Clubs and managers outside the so called big 6 shouldn’t be given more respect!😡

@duffyj1987: To be fair he’s absolutely right. Forest, Bournemouth, and Fulham are where they are on merit. There was no reason whatsoever to mention Man United.

@AmbroseBarnaby: Excellent reply by Marco from a silly reporter trying it on. Talk about disrespectful

@gulpburp: Spot on, finally some bite back for this constant shit spouted about these specific clubs all the time. It doesn’t have anything to do with united, he shouldn’t be happy cos they’re above a ‘club like that’ he’s absolutely spot on with his response 👏

@wozza_step: Superb. I am pleased that more and more managers are challenging the interviewers to desist with their lazy questions

@Ashgreeno69: And just Why should he be happy with this line of questioning drop the united rhetoric…. other clubs are available

@PaulDav86486288: Well said Marco! Seems everyone is absolutely sick to the back teeth of the constant love affair between Sky and the favoured clubs!

@GarySmithJnr: Well done Marco Silva 👏🏻 we are all getting sick of the Sky 6 bias!

@jaseyoungy: It was absolutely spot on , the interviewer was only interested in talking about Utd in a Fulham press conference, I honestly don’t know how some of these sky reporters get a job , they are shocking

@Simon_Clemson: Sky are fuming, putting this out as they expect everyone to hate on Silva. Well said Marco 👏
