We take a look at the FOURTEEN upsets that were caused in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round which were played out at the weekend.
For many non league sides, they played their first competitive match since having their season halted in March then deemed null and void with some many missing out on promotion, playoffs and avoiding relegation.
Matches from the second qualifying round of the world’s oldest association football single knockout competition went ahead over the last few days, but with a difference.

Due to coronavirus lockdown rules, some ties were played behind closed doors or restricted amount of spectators, though for some clubs, they had their biggest ever attendance.
There were astonishingly fourteen upsets in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round, and a few of them were settled by a penalty shootout.
Saltash United and Risborough Rangers, who were the lowest ranked teams in the round – level 10 of the English football pyramid – ended up losing away from home.
There are now just five teams from level 9 the English football pyramid that remain in the competition following surprise wins this week.
Wessex League Premier Division club Christchurch, Southern Counties East League Premier Division side Sheppey United, Southern Counties East League Premier Division outfit Chatham Town, North West Counties League Premier Division club Skelmersdale United and North West Counties League Premier Division team Longridge Town caused the biggest upsets, beating teams two levels about themselves.
Christchurch caused a cupset by beating National League North side Gloucester City. Following a 1-1 draw, the level 9 club ended up winning 6-5 on penalties. Cracking scenes too…

Skelmersdale came out victorious against Northern Premier League Premier Division outfit Lancaster City. Mike Grogan headed in from a corner on the 36th minute before the opposition equalised early in the second half. Gabriel Ellis made instant impact, coming off the bench to slot the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-1 to the Skem.

And last but not least, Longridge stunned many, fight hard to knock out Northern Premier League Premier Division side Stalybridge Celtic. Jack Anderton putting the underdogs in front after 6 minutes, then Owen Watkinson made it 2-0, slotting in from the edge of the area 15 minutes later. Stalybridge got two goals back in the second half, equalising in the 86th minute, before Watkinson then got Longridge’s winner in the 88th to send them through.
